Big Changes Ahead for ASCs

CMS just proposed 547 new procedures for the 2026 ASC Covered Procedures List - a jump that’s not just huge in scale, but groundbreaking in philosophy.

In her latest blog, SMP COO Allison Stock breaks down what this 913-page proposal really means for ambulatory surgery centers:

- Expanded access to spine & cardiovascular procedures
- A 2.4% Medicare payment increase
- Retirement of prescriptive quality measures
- A decisive shift toward clinician-driven care setting decisions

This proposal validates what ASCs have known all along: we deliver safe, efficient, high-quality care, and now CMS is catching up.
