We are sad to be missing the Spirit of Volunteerism brunch this morning, but wanted to take a moment to shine the spotlight on our own Abby Kayser who is being recognized as an Up & Coming Volunteer Honoree!

Abby has done an AMAZING job as our 3•2•1 Fun Program Coordinator. In that role, she dedicates her time as a volunteer to thoughtfully plan and host monthly events for our youngest families. Abby has gone above and beyond with her care, intentionality, and leadership of that program while still managing to support other programs by volunteering for their events, as well as volunteering outside of our organization.

Thank you Helpline Center for recognizing Abby and all the other honorees and volunteers that make Sioux Falls a better place!

The Fun for All: April Open Gym 🌷 is coming up bright and early THIS Saturday morning at the Special Olympics South Dakota gym! Join us for a FREE morning of indoor play, Spring themed activities, and meet our special guest Jess Herbert with Possibilities, who will be hosting a fun activity as well! You won't want to miss the fun:

🏀 Basketball
🌻 Plant your own sunflower seed to take home
🪏 Garden sensory table
🪱 Make your own "dirt cup" snack
🖍️ Jumbo coloring sheet
🌷 Flower vase craft
⭐ Indoor play

Our Fun for All program is for families who have a child between the ages of 0-12 with a disability, rare disease, genetic condition, or who is on the spectrum. These events are always FREE, no registration is required, and refreshments are provided. Come check it out!

🚨 UPDATE: We are 63% of the way to our Adaptive Trike Campaign goal! We have purchased our first THREE adaptive trikes, and are over halfway to purchasing our 4th!

❤️ Funds from this campaign will be used to purchase adaptive tricycles that will allow children with physical disabilities to fully participate in our Special Olympics South Dakota Young Athletes sessions, for use in our monthly open gyms, and as part of a check-out system to build skills in a home setting.

🧡 Being able to loan out these adaptive trikes for home use is a huge driving factor in acquiring them, as they are beyond the means for most families to acquire individually.

💛 These trikes will expand the number of children who can safely and confidently participate in our activities. We plan to have this equipment purchased and available for use in time for the upcoming Special Olympics Young Athletes session beginning July 7, 2026.

Best. Moms. Night. EVER!

Thank you to all the wonderful women who took a risk and came out last night to have dinner with a group of strangers! But the thing is, we aren't *really* strangers. We all have something powerful in common which bonds us and allows us to feel seen, heard, and understood, even in a room full of "strangers" 💙

We can't wait to do it again!

One last time, we've got to thank our special guests of the month, the Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma Club, for coming in, sharing about their inclusive park project, and treating our families some fun refreshments and the magic show ✨

We had the pleasure of hosting the Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma Club at our Fun for All: March Open Gym 🪄 yesterday morning. Not only did they provide the refreshments and entertainment for the event, but they also had the chance to talk about their inclusive playground project with the families who are looking forward to it the most, and to KELOLAND News who is shining the spotlight on this much needed project!
