Dr. Curtis Plueger is a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) practicing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with a professional focus on orthopedic and sports-related conditions. He graduated Cum Laude from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2024 with an emphasis in sports injuries and physical rehabilitation.
I sat down with Dr. Pleuger and asked him some getting to know you questions for you guys to enjoy:

What's your favorite condition to treat? I first found chiropractic because I had a low back injury and it changed my life. So I think because of that I love treating low back pain.

What's the best advice you've ever given a patient? Trust the process, we are going on a journey to get you to the best health that you can be, and that takes time.

What's a non-physical ailment that you think is most affected by spinal health? I think one thing that can be affected is your mental health.

What's the most common condition you see in your practice? Probably low back pain or neck pain.

What inspired you to become a chiropractor? I was injured on a training exercise in my duty as a flight medic for the army while I was at nursing school. It left me with a severe low back injury that left me unable to continue in nursing school. I was referred to a local chiropractor who gave me my life, my mobility and my ability to pick my kid up again. While I didn't understand it all at the time, I knew that this was the path for me.

What do you do to stay healthy and active? I like functional exercise, so I like to walk, and lift weights

What's the one thing you can't live without? Other than family, my one guilty pleasure is white monster energy drinks.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? I would fly. When I was a flight medic I loved every second of that, it was a sad day when my injury meant that I could no longer serve.

Both my wife and Melissa have been saying for months that, especially with me seeing patients nearly every Saturday morning as well, I need to take some time off. So, this morning I informed them both that fine, I'll not be in for work next Monday. They were glad until they realized that's Labor Day anyway.

Seriously though, the office will be closed on Labor Day, September 1st, though I will be in the office as usual the Saturday before and hours will be normal again on Tuesday onward.

I'd also like to point out that the following Monday, September 8th, will be the first day for Dr. Curtis Plueger in our office, so I'd like everyone to welcome him if they see him in the hall or shadowing one of the other docs.

This Monday post is just slightly different than our normal! Those of you who have met Dr. Jorde or who have been in on the rare Saturday that she is manning the front desk herself will know a little bit about our youngest daughter! You may also know her from some of our videos of the clinic. This is Malaysia. She is 7 going on 8 and she just finished first grade.
