I'm glad I have patients who are good about coming in to get checked if they have an injury, even if they're feeling alright after.

Just the other day someone came in after a can of soda fell on his head and he was worried about his neck even though it wasn't sore. The good news is that after examining him, he was fine. Thankfully, it was a *soft* drink.

While going through my list of chores, errands, and tasks for the day, I remembered I need to write up some notes the radio with Bill Zortman’s Working on Wellness Wednesdays later this week and realized while a lot of patients listen to me nearly every time I’m on, a lot also don’t know that I’ve been on twice a month for over three years now.

Mostly I discuss things like advice to protect oneself during various seasonal activities, general chiropractic ideas, manual muscle testing and what we do at our office specifically, and occasionally specific conditions that we treat. Whether it’s of interest to you, if you know somebody that you’ve been talking to about us, telling them to listen in would be a great way for them to hear more about what we’re about in general.

Dr. Jorde is on usually around 9:30am on the first and last Wednesday of each month on KELO FM 107.9 and AM 1320

We've been spoiled much of this winter, not getting much snow on the ground nor in huge heaps when getting snowfall. While the snow yesterday wasn't a lot either, there's a fair bit of ice underneath it. Be safe when travelling and watch your step until it starts to melt on Wednesday.

And remember, a slip and fall should always be checked out even without pain; a slip where you catch yourself without going down should be checked out if there's any pain after; and pain from shoveling can wait a day or two to see if it resolves, but if it goes into the third day, then it should be check out.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and good tidings for all other holidays going on or soon to come. Holiday hours will be below, and I'll try and remember to repeat them on Wednesday here, but first a reminder that today and tomorrow (the 22nd and 23rd) are our annual treat day here at the office!

Even if you don't have an appointment, feel free to swing on by if you happen to be in the area during your shopping runs or just need a break from it it to say hi, have some punch, and grab a bowl of chili, pickle wrap, cinnamon roll, cookie, or whatever else we have laid out at the front of our office during our regular hours.

Speaking of hours, for both Christmas eve and next week for New Years eve (24th and 31st) we will only be open in the morning from 9am to noon. Likewise, both Christmas Day and New Years Day (25th and 1st) we will be closed.

Those are the only changes for the office hours overall, however, so while the other two doctors won't be in on the 26th either, Dr. Jorde will be in all day that Friday as well as his usual Saturday hours.

Happy Thanksgiving week to all of our patients. We are thankful for you all everyday. We are closed on Thursday but will have normal Friday and Saturday hours, for those who need a post turkey adjustment. Enjoy the time with your family, wherever they may be, and know that we look at you all as part of our big Jorde chiropractic family! Happy Thanksgiving!

Dr. Curtis Plueger is a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) practicing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with a professional focus on orthopedic and sports-related conditions. He graduated Cum Laude from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2024 with an emphasis in sports injuries and physical rehabilitation.
I sat down with Dr. Pleuger and asked him some getting to know you questions for you guys to enjoy:

What's your favorite condition to treat? I first found chiropractic because I had a low back injury and it changed my life. So I think because of that I love treating low back pain.

What's the best advice you've ever given a patient? Trust the process, we are going on a journey to get you to the best health that you can be, and that takes time.

What's a non-physical ailment that you think is most affected by spinal health? I think one thing that can be affected is your mental health.

What's the most common condition you see in your practice? Probably low back pain or neck pain.

What inspired you to become a chiropractor? I was injured on a training exercise in my duty as a flight medic for the army while I was at nursing school. It left me with a severe low back injury that left me unable to continue in nursing school. I was referred to a local chiropractor who gave me my life, my mobility and my ability to pick my kid up again. While I didn't understand it all at the time, I knew that this was the path for me.

What do you do to stay healthy and active? I like functional exercise, so I like to walk, and lift weights

What's the one thing you can't live without? Other than family, my one guilty pleasure is white monster energy drinks.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? I would fly. When I was a flight medic I loved every second of that, it was a sad day when my injury meant that I could no longer serve.
