📣 ANNOUNCEMENT | Sisseton Football
After nearly a decade of serving as an assistant coach for the Sisseton Redmen, I’ve been asked to step into the role of Head Football Coach for the upcoming 2025 season.
This was a decision that, in many ways, was both difficult and easy. Like many former players, I often find myself reflecting on my time under the Friday night lights — talking with past teammates and coaches, remembering the lessons, the camaraderie, and the pride that came with wearing Sisseton across our chests. Those are memories I cherish deeply.
But today’s student-athletes face challenges very different from years past. Numbers are down across the country. Some communities are canceling their programs entirely, others are holding on with JV seasons just to keep football alive. The same concerns exist right here at home.
I won’t sugarcoat it — we’ve got work to do. The culture of Sisseton Football needs to evolve, and it’s time we make tough decisions that are focused on one thing: doing what’s best for our athletes.
I know there will be questions. I expect it. I know not everyone will agree. But here’s what I can tell you — my heart is fully in this. And I believe that teaching our young athletes to love the process of becoming football players, of becoming teammates, leaders, and young men of character — that’s more important than what division we play in or what our record says.
While not all details are finalized yet, I’m proud to say that Sisseton alum Matt Glynn will be assisting this coming season. We are not desperate — we are intentional. But we are also open to those who want to roll up their sleeves and help us build something meaningful. If you're interested in helping, reach out or apply through the Sisseton School District. We’re not looking for critiques — we’re looking for builders, mentors, and doers who want to be part of a long-term solution.
🗓️ IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR JULY 15TH:
📍 Parent & Coaches Information Meeting
🕕 6:00 PM-Football Complex
We’ll cover what the season will look like, our goals moving forward, and our plans for the rest of the summer. All parents, guardians, and anyone interested in helping build this program are encouraged to attend.
*I will provide an update on the discussions for those unable to make it.
🏈 Open Field Night for Athletes (Grades 7–12)
🕓 6:45–8:30 PM
All student-athletes entering grades 7–12 who are interested in football are invited to join us on the field. This is a great opportunity to shake off the rust, get moving, and start building chemistry as a team. No pressure — just show up, bring a good attitude, and let’s get after it. Shorts, T-shirt, cleats(optional), mouthguard(optional- ideal)
I believe in these student-athletes. I believe in this community. And I believe we can leave behind something truly special for the generations to come.
Let’s get to work.
