Did you know that most of your weight loss and health goals can be improved and/or achieved when dialing in your nutrition?

Staples for BOTH — health & weight loss goals:

🍗 Prioritize lean protein — about 30 g per meal!

🥗Focus on adding non-starchy vegetables to every single meal or snack — low calorie, high nutrient content, high fiber & very filling

🥑 Add a moderate fat source to each meal for balancing blood sugars and helping you stay full — bonus if this is a healthy fat like avocado, olive oil, nuts/nut butters or a protein source that has both (like salmon!)

💧 Stay hydrated with low calorie options like plain water with lemon or lime, seltzers & non caffeinated herbal teas

Not only do all of these tips focus on ADDING something to your diet to maintain a healthy mindset (arguably most important), but they also can help to 👇

Over the holidays we’ve had LOTS of delicious, healthy (and some not so healthy!) eats. Here are the few I captured!

- Vanilla Chia Protein Pancakes
- Mediterranean Steak Salads
- Chicken Fajita Bowls
- Adult Lunchable Snack Plate
- Quinoa, Chicken, Brussel Sprout & Parmesan Bake
- Creamy Sausage Ditalini Soup (swapped for elbow pasta since that’s what we had)
- My family’s favorite holiday cookie — chocolate crinkles!

Balance in life is one of the only answers to healthy relationships with food and yourself, especially during the holidays. Finding moderation and time to indulge, while also honoring what your body functions and feels best consuming, helps our bodies and our minds navigate funky times when we’re out of routine.

Some EATS lately 😋

- Lean ground beef taco bowls with peppers and onions, topped with tomatoes, lettuce, cheddar, hot sauce & plain greek yogurt
- 2 eggs & 2 egg whites scrambled with cheddar and hot sauce, side of toast and a kiwi
- Ground turkey Asian lettuce wraps with homemade peanut sauce (lettuce wrap not shown, ate too fast 😂)
- Homemade chicken & veggie soup made in homemade bone broth
- Egg salad made with Greek yogurt & topped with hot sauce on toast
- Deconstructed chicken pot pie over rice
- Teriyaki Ramen bowls with peppers, onions & carrots over rice
- Honey mustard pork chops with roasted potatoes and green beans

Whole food, lots of flavor, lots of color, high protein & decent fiber. Keeping it simple, but delicious & using my crockpot more regularly in this chilly weather!

Recent, balanced & healthy meals we’ve loved lately 😋

- BBQ pulled pork bowls with roasted sweet potatoes & broccoli
- Greek chicken bowls with rice, grilled zucchini, fresh tomatoes, feta & tzatziki
- Turkey kielbasa with roasted brussel sprouts, peppers & onions over cauliflower mash
- Wedge salads with perfectly grilled steak thanks to
- Butternut squash soup made with bone broth & chicken thighs, kale & topped with plain Greek yogurt and roasted pumpkin seeds
- Creamy Tuscan Chicken with sun-dried tomatoes & spinach over roasted spaghetti squash
- Greek yogurt with 1/2 a smashed banana, cinnamon & chia seeds for a quick grab and go breakfast

Food has always been fun for me — learning about it, cooking it, and especially eating it 😂

I love to get creative and make normal recipes a little healthier by adding more veggies, color, fiber & protein.

It’s how my body feels its best — and not just in the gym.

When we balance our meals, we have:

An object in motion, stays in motion — even you! 🤸

Newton’s first law of motion wasn’t really meant to be applied to humans staying active, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a helpful reference.

Picking up the habit of exercising, strength training, walking & moving our bodies DAILY is a tough one when you’re used to be sedentary.

It takes time to build a new habit & it takes some trial and error to really find a routine that works well for you.

But once that habit becomes second nature, your body will thank you for it.
