Known affectionately in the community as the “big yellow building up the hill,” The Athenaeum was once a large mansion that has been converted into single rooms for senior living, giving our building a homey feel and comfort

able atmosphere. By embracing The Peregrine Way®, The Athenaeum at Skaneateles provides a supportive environment for seniors and their families. We specialize in assisted living for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, encouraging them to lead full lives by continuing to grow mentally, spiritually and socially.

Who’s Who Wednesday

Cook Ashley
(A Nickname that stuck because we have two Ashley’s in the house)

-Ashley started working at The Athenaeum in January 2025
-First job ever was at Dickmans Farms in Auburn
-hobbies include swimming, hiking and yes, cooking
-her favorite food is chicken wings
-an interesting fact about Ashley, her first concert was a K-Rockethon show when she was 14 years old.

Final preparations for our annual picnic, tomorrow. We are looking forward to an appearance from Elvis and seeing all our wonderful friends and family. There is nothing like creating bouquets during July in CNY. The options are endless!

During our Around the World Travels, we often visit or learn about familiar countries like Germany, Ireland or Spain, but we ventured to New Zealand this month. With the help of our Dining Director, we had a delicious meal of homemade fish ‘n chips and Hokey Pokey for desert, a traditional kiwi ice cream with honeycomb toffee for dessert.

I would like to not only wish Ruth, our resident of the month a very Happy Birthday, but also thank our volunteers, Dawson and Siena for writing a very thought filled biography of Ruth. It was fun to learn about Ruth’s childhood, family and all her accomplishments and interests, while also celebrating her birthday.
