The Story of WB Tolley Eyewear
Welcome to Montgomery Eye Care!!! We have been in practice in the Montgomery Center since December 26, 1997. This year we launched our own private label eyewear line, WB Tolley Eyewear. Waring Barton Tolley, Dr. Boname’s maternal grandfather, and Flavia Iona Hitchcock Tolley, her maternal grandmother are the inspiration behind the eyewear line.
Miss Flavia Hitchcock was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Monkton, MD. W.B.Tolley’s ancestral home was within walking distance of the schoolhouse, and he used to go over and shovel the snow off the steps out of the kindness of his heart. This is how they met one another.
W.B. Tolley was an equestrian and a country gentleman with a keen sense of humor and love of singing. One of his favorites was “Show Me The Way To Go Home.” Mrs. Tolley was a voracious reader, avid crossword puzzle fan, naturopathic healer, and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend and schoolteacher.
They fostered an interest in politics, civic responsiblity, gardening, reading, music and intellectual curiosity in their children and grandchildren. Hence, the choice of a school pennant as a logo for the company that bears my grandfather’s name.
