Earlier this week, after a lockdown at Old Orchard Mall in Skokie left employees sheltering in place for hours, Illinois Healing Center was called in to provide on-site, trauma-informed care.
Though no one was physically harmed, the psychological aftermath often lingers quietly. Disrupted regulation, heightened vigilance, emotional shutdown, or a sudden sense that the world no longer feels safe.
Our role isn’t to pathologize. It’s to be present. To bring clinical steadiness into moments of collective stress. To help people understand their body’s responses, normalize their symptoms, and begin to restore a sense of safety.
We’re proud to be the team a major company called when their staff needed immediate, human-centered care, not weeks later in a therapy room, but right there, on-site, in the hours after.
Because healing begins the moment someone is met with calm, understanding, and clinical compassion.
