Celebrating Mary-Kate Kane’s one-year anniversary at Citadel of Skokie! 🎉

As an Activity Aide, Mary-Kate brings joy and enthusiasm to her work. She loves connecting with residents, learning what makes each person smile, and creating moments that brighten their day.

Reflecting on her first year, she says, “It feels exciting to be hitting one year, and I’m proud to be part of the team!”

Her advice for anyone starting in healthcare: “Appreciate all the good, the staff, the residents. I’m laughing and smiling every time I come in. It’s like family here!”

Describing her journey in one word, Mary-Kate chose “Rewarding.”

“It feels meaningful to make a difference. Getting to know the residents and their unique personalities has been such a great experience!”

We’re proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement at Citadel of Skokie! 🌟

Our center is the first across our organization to reach a new overall quality score, based on more than 50 quality assurance metrics that reflect the care, service, and experience we provide every day.

Administrator Adam Gorenstein said, “Quality means better resident care, improved outcomes, and a shared commitment to excellence. We recognize the great work our staff does every day, which builds trust and strengthens our culture.”

Director of Nursing Joben Arceno added, “Being part of Citadel has helped us feel organized, supported, and focused. When everyone understands their role and feels supported, quality naturally follows.”

To celebrate, our team enjoyed a delicious catered lunch from Pita Inn. Congratulations to everyone for making this achievement possible!

Celebrating Irina Orlov's 26 years at Citadel of Skokie! 🎉

As our Director of Social Services, Irina brings so much care and dedication to everything she does. She says, "I love what I'm doing! I love to help and be helpful, and to provide comfort to our residents!"

Her advice for anyone starting in healthcare is simple: "Stay positive and know that team members are welcoming and willing to help when you need it."

Some of Irina’s favorite moments come from just talking with residents. "They always ask if I have any new stories about my grandson. It means a lot because it shows they’re listening, and I’m always happy to share with them!"

If she had to describe her journey in one word, it would be "Educational." She has learned so much along the way and loves being a social worker.

We’re proud to celebrate Erik Cervantes’ 5-year work anniversary at Citadel of Skokie! 🎉

As our Central Supply Clerk, Erik’s dedication to keeping our facility safe, clean, and welcoming is inspired by his grandparents. Every day, he works to create an environment our residents can feel proud to call home.

When asked what advice he’d give to someone just starting their journey in healthcare, Erik shared: "Be patient and don’t give up. Be proud of what we do!”

When asked, “What’s one word you’d use to describe your five-year journey here and why?” Erik chose “Fabulous” because he gets to learn something new every day, and just by doing that, it’s perfect.
