Celebrating 3 years with Vanessa Hernandez at Citadel of Skokie! 🌟

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, Vanessa takes pride in being part of a team that values professionalism, support, and compassion. She has built strong relationships with residents over the years and finds meaning in showing up each day ready to provide thoughtful, dependable care. Helping others and making people better continues to motivate her.

Her advice for anyone entering healthcare is simple: “Do your job with love and passion. When you care about what you do, the work feels rewarding.”

One of her favorite memories was last summer’s staff celebration, when the team came together for a water balloon fight. It was a fun break from the usual routine and a reminder of how connected and supportive the team is.

If she had to describe her journey in one word, it would be “trusting.” Vanessa credits Adam, Administrator, for seeing her potential and encouraging her to take the next step. That support gave her the confidence to grow and continue pushing herself.

“I love my job. It is satisfying to know I can make an impact and that people trust me,” she shares.

Vanessa, thank you for 3 years of dedication. Your commitment to making people better continues to have a meaningful impact at Citadel of Skokie. 💛

Valentine’s Day fun at Citadel of Skokie ❤️

Our residents celebrated with a Valentine’s Day party that included a caption competition, bringing creativity and friendly fun to the day. It was a great way to celebrate together and enjoy a little Valentine’s cheer!

Thumbs up to the incredible Activities Team at Citadel of Skokie! 🌟👍

Last week, during National Activity Professionals Week, we had the opportunity to celebrate the people who bring so much joy and connection to our residents each day.

When asked what she loves most about her work, Vershun Chaison, Activities Director, shared:
"I love to enrich the lives of my residents and put a smile on their face. If they're happy, I'm happy."

Vershun also shared appreciation for the team:
"I love my team—always going above and beyond and ready to jump in whenever needed. Kindhearted, caring, and so supportive. Truly appreciated for everything they do!"

We are grateful for the energy, care, and heart the Activities Team brings to Citadel of Skokie. Thank you for helping make people better!

As part of the network-wide launch, the Citadel of Skokie team wore their new We Make People Better T-shirts while taking time to pause, reflect, and recognize the impact we make every day.
