When Trump threatened to send the National Guard to Chicago next, I found myself questioning whether I was focusing my time on the right actions of resistance.

Since January, I’ve frequently felt a sense of urgency to respond to each new harmful policy, bill, or executive order.

But I have to keep reminding myself: that’s the point. The goal is to keep us in a constant state of overwhelm, reacting to daily fire drills or giving up, instead of building long-term, strategic resistance.

When I catch myself acting from urgency (or when a friend gently points it out), I pause. I breathe. I return to my purpose.

Three years ago, I created a yoga nidra practice to help me hold the intense emotions that come with witnessing injustice. It’s a space to feel deeply—so I can move from urgency and overwhelm to intentional, focused action.

Getting a cardiovascular ❤ screening can be lifesaving, but before you sign up for one, please research their reviews. I recently received a mailer from a company for a screening for stroke and cardiovascular disease that sounded like a great deal, but then I read the companies yelp reviews - almost all 1-star reviews 👎🏼 about people never receiving their test results, being billed for an annual membership, waiting hours for their tests. I encourage you to go for one of these screenings but look for deals at one of our local healthcare systems like this one at Rush.

And please make sure your elderly family members and neighbors are aware of these scams because this company is targeting them.
