Patient and Family Friendly Environment
Living with complex gastrointestinal disease, especially those diseases that are chronic such as Crohn's disease, celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, and intestinal failure, is often a difficult proposition for the patient and their family. Other problems such as difficulty or painful swallowing, abdominal pain, too much gas, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and/or diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, and re**al bleeding are no less troubling. We recognize that these days, patients also have a high degree of sophistication about their conditions and expect through evaluation and treatment, so we involve patients, their families, and the referring physician in the decision-making process. Our core team of specialized gastroenterologists designs individual management plans that are often multidisciplinary in nature. Our practice is on the cutting edge of the field as we have performed seminal research published in leading professional gastrointestinal journals and books. Our job is to take what we have learned in the laboratory to you, the patient. Our philosophy includes the idea that nutrition plays an important role in gastrointestinal disease, so we provide customized nutritional education sessions to patients and their families when needed. Our multi-disciplinary approach includes social work, psychology/psychiatry, diagnostic or interventional radiology, gastrointestinal pathology, physical/occupational therapy, and medical insurance/financial consultation as well as family support services so we can provide our patients with the expert and comprehensive treatment they deserve.
