According to the CDC, preventative testing should begin at the age of 45, or younger depending on risk factors for diabetes including your weight, family history or history of gestational diabetes.

My Brookhaven Health’s, Dr. Jonathan Edwards, discusses high blood pressure, or hypertension, and what the numbers mean to YOU.

Blood pressure is categorized into stages when diagnosed and stage 2, or a blood pressure reading of 140/90 or greater, is typically when pharmacologic therapy is required.

If your blood pressure falls in stage 1, or a blood pressure reading of 130-139/80-89, your cardiovascular risk factors alongside other preventative health risks, will be taken into account prior to starting pharmacologic therapy.

My Brookhaven Health's, Dr. Jonathan Edwards explains PSA results and the importance of screenings.

A PSA or Prostate- Specific Antigen measures a protein made by the prostate in adult males through a venous blood draw. A high PSA value can be indicative of prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, inflammation or infection present in the prostate. Screenings typically start at age 55, but are recommended earlier between the age of 40-54 if there is family history.
