Today, March 11, is National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day, a day that recognizes those who serve families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

For us, this work has always been deeply personal. It is not just what we do, it is part of who we are.

Walking alongside families in their time of loss is a responsibility we never take lightly, and it is an honor to help create meaningful moments of remembrance for the people who are loved and missed.

We are grateful every day for the trust families place in us and for the community that continues to support Harding Funeral Home. It truly means more than we can express.

Today we also want to recognize all of the funeral directors and morticians who dedicate their lives to serving others with compassion, patience, and care.

We had such a great night out with the staff of Harding Funeral Home at the Slatington Lions Club’s 25th Annual Comedy Night. This is something we truly look forward to each year, getting out into the community, seeing so many familiar faces, and sharing some laughs together.

In the work that we do, moments like this are really special. It felt so good to connect with everyone in such a joyful way.

We are so grateful for our wonderful staff, the dedicated members of the Slatington Lions Club, and this amazing community we are proud to serve. And wow, what a packed house. It was so much fun.

Now we are off to a full day of supporting some of our favorite local organizations, the Slatington S***t Club at their Block Shoot and NLYAA Football at their Purse Bingo. We love seeing our community come together for these events.

Hope to see you all out and about today!

We are honored to share this article from Northampton Community College highlighting our own Amber Horvath and her experience learning the art of casket weaving.

This craft is deeply meaningful and rooted in care, tradition, and the personal nature of funeral service. The article shares the story beautifully, so we invite you to take a moment to read it.

And if you happen to see Amber outside this summer practicing her weaving skills, now you will know what she is working on. Once the semester wraps up, she is hoping to spend time continuing to practice and grow in this special craft.

If you would ever like to see a woven casket in person, you can. There is one on display at Northampton Community College, and we also have one here at Harding Funeral Home.

It is a beautiful reminder that even the smallest details in funeral service can be created with care, intention, and love.

Today marks the beginning of the Lenten season with Ash Wednesday, a sacred time of reflection, repentance, and renewal.

As we receive ashes and hear the words “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return,” we are reminded of the fragile, beautiful gift of life and the hope that carries us through loss.

This season invites us to slow down, to turn inward, and to draw closer to God and to one another. May these next forty days be filled with prayer, peace, and moments of grace for you and your loved ones.
