Happy Wednesday!
A radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure that uses pulsed radio waves to create a current that heats a small area of nerve tissue. The heat destroys that area of the nerve, stopping it from sending pain signals to your brain. An RFA can provide lasting relief for people dealing with chronic pain, especially in the lower back, neck, and arthritic joints.
For our patients, we first order an MRI of the affected spinal region and then give two rounds of medial branch blocks (MBB) as diagnostic therapies to localize the source of pain. Then an RFA will be scheduled to give more long-lasting pain relief.
If you suffer from chronic pain in your back or neck that is not associated with muscle weakness resulting from a vehicle crash, work-related injury, or a slip or fall, call us: 985-288-5088 to schedule an appointment to see if an RFA treatment plan is best for you!
