Happy Wednesday!
Radicular pain is a type of pain that radiates from your back, hips, or shoulder into your legs or arms through the spine. The pain travels along the spinal nerve root. The leg or arm pain can be accompanied by numbness, tingling, and muscle weakness. Radicular pain occurs when the spinal nerve gets compressed (pinched) or inflamed.
Several causes of spinal compression can lead to radicular pain. These include: disc herniation, foraminal stenosis, nerve root injuries, or scar tissue formation from past spinal surgeries.
Treatment for radicular pain may involve treating the underlying condition or finding the right combination of pain management strategies, such as epidural steroid injections into the affected region of the back and physical therapy to strengthen those muscles and affected joints.
If you’re experiencing radicular pain or any type of neck, back, hip, or leg pain, we can help! Call us: 985-288-5088 to schedule an appointment!
