Opening day was filled with meaningful moments made possible by our dedicated team, trusted community partners, and the patients and families who placed their confidence in us.

Throughout the day, we were honored to work alongside our physicians, nurses, team members, EMS partners, and visitors who helped bring our hospital to life. And now, we’re here for Smithfield around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Another meaningful first for us today! 🎉

Earlier this afternoon, we welcomed our first inpatient to the Medical Surgical Unit after he came to our Emergency Department for care. Mr. Dudley, a Smithfield resident, was admitted by Dr. Kristen Spratt, Medical Director of Hospital Medicine at our hospital.

This milestone reflects the full spectrum of care now available close to home, from emergency services to inpatient treatment, delivered by a dedicated team focused on quality, compassion, and patient-centered care.

Meet our very first patient, Smithfield! 💚

Earlier this morning we proudly welcomed our very first patient, Mr. Lowder, to our hospital. Mr. Lowder is a Windsor resident, who underwent a procedure with Dr. William Hackworth, Gastroenterologist with Riverside Gastroenterology Specialists Smithfield. 🏥👨‍⚕️

This milestone marks the beginning of our mission to bring exceptional, compassionate care to our Smithfield community and beyond.

Our Med/Surg unit supports a wide range of patients, including those recovering after surgery, managing acute or chronic medical conditions, or needing close monitoring during their hospital stay. From orthopedic and general surgery recovery to conditions such as infections, respiratory concerns, and gastrointestinal issues, this unit is designed to safely meet diverse patient needs.

Each private room offers a calm, welcoming environment with thoughtful layouts that encourage rest, mobility, and family presence. Comfortable seating, adjustable lighting, and space for loved ones help make every stay feel more reassuring for patients and caregivers alike.

With just 5 days until we welcome patients, we’re giving you an exclusive look at the space where advanced technology meets compassionate care.

Our ICU has 12 beds and is designed to provide the highest level of care for patients in critical condition. Each room is equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring systems, advanced life-support equipment, and thoughtfully arranged layouts that allow our healthcare teams to respond quickly and efficiently.

But it’s not just about technology; our ICU also prioritizes comfort for patients and their loved ones. With private rooms, soothing lighting, and spaces for family to be close, we’ve created an environment that supports healing, connection, and peace of mind during challenging times.
