Since opening our doors, we’ve welcomed patients, families, and exceptional team members into a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care. In just 100 days, our amazing staff has come together to provide life-changing services, launch new programs, and build strong connections with the Smithfield and Isle of Wight community.

We are deeply grateful to our dedicated team, supportive partners, and everyone who has trusted us with their care. Here’s to many more milestones as we continue our mission to serve the Smithfield and Isle of Wight community with excellence and heart.

Recently, we celebrated a truly inspiring moment, our very first Champion of Caring award! 🏆

Meet Sheila, a dedicated nurse in our emergency department, went above and beyond for an elderly patient and his wife on a snowy, freezing day. Without being asked, Sheila braved the cold to clear snow and ice from their car and brought it safely to the entrance, ensuring their comfort and safety.

When recognized, Sheila humbly credited her entire team, saying this level of compassion is just what they do every day. Her kindness and humility are a shining example of the care and teamwork that define our culture.

Riverside Neurosurgical & Spine opened March 9 on our hospital campus and Riverside Partners in Women’s Health will open March 27 at Riverside Health Care Center Smithfield. 🧠 💚 🏥

2,000 patients. 60 days. One powerful impact.

A big thank you to for sharing our story and highlighting the impact we are already making.

Since opening our doors on January 6, we have already treated more than 2,000 patients, providing emergency care closer to home for our community.

That’s 2,000 neighbors who no longer must travel 30–40 minutes for care. In just two months, our team has:
• Treated 383 ambulance arrivals, helping EMS reduce turnaround times and get back into service faster
• Admitted 130+ inpatients in the first month alone
• Completed nearly 3,000 diagnostic images
• Used advanced coronary CT technology to detect heart attacks in minutes

For our community, this means stronger emergency response, expanded access to advanced technology, and lives saved.

All aboard the Appreciation Station! 🚂💚

This week at Smithfield, we launched a fun new way to celebrate our teams and recognize the incredible work happening across every department. The Appreciation Station is all about popping in and making sure our staff knows how valued they are.

With Dr. Billings at the front of the train (whistle and all!), we rolled through departments spreading a little extra gratitude and a lot of smiles.

Meet Suffolk resident Mrs. Caroline Martin who was the very first patient to receive a total knee replacement at our hospital. Just two weeks after her total knee replacement with Dr. Halawi, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery with Riverside Orthopedic Specialists Smithfield, she’s already walking unassisted at her post-op visit at the Medical Office Building on our campus. 🙌

As we celebrate our first month open, stories like Mrs. Martin’s reflect what we are all about: advanced care, expert providers, and life-changing outcomes right here in our community.
