November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder to prioritize lung health and the benefits of early detection.

A low-dose CT lung scan can identify tumors smaller than one centimeter, often before symptoms appear. Updated guidelines now allow more patients to qualify for screenings covered by insurance.

Wake Radiology was the first provider in North Carolina recognized by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center, reflecting our commitment to safe, high-quality imaging.

Your lung health matters. In support of the fourth annual National Lung Cancer Screening Day on Saturday, November 8, Wake Radiology is expanding access to screenings at our Fuquay-Varina location.

A CT lung cancer screening scan is the most effective tool available to catch lung cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages. Opening on a Saturday helps those who cannot take time off work, addressing a significant barrier to care.

Who is eligible for screening? Individuals who meet all three criteria:

- Between 50 and 80 years old
- Current smoker or quit within the last 15 years
- Asymptomatic (no symptoms of lung cancer)

A provider order is required to schedule your screening. If you meet the criteria, please speak with your primary care physician to confirm your eligibility and reserve your Saturday appointment with us today.

On World Osteoporosis Day, we encourage you to take steps to protect your bone health.

A DXA with TBS scan is the most advanced way to measure bone density, providing early answers about fracture risk.

Screening is recommended for women after menopause, men over age 70, and anyone with risk factors such as low body weight, family history, or long-term steroid use.
