We are so grateful to LIVBC (Long Island Volleyball Club), a 14-year-old girls travel volleyball team from Suffolk County, for their thoughtful act of kindness toward the patients at St. Catherine’s Hospital.

The team generously took the time to fill notebooks with positive and uplifting quotes for patients throughout the hospital. While it may seem like a small gesture, these notebooks can make a meaningful impact during what is often an overwhelming and uncertain time for patients and their families.

Not only do the encouraging messages provide comfort and support, but the notebooks also give patients a place to write down questions, thoughts, and concerns so they can easily discuss them with their care team.

Patient James Finnell quoted “Recovering from surgery is never fun, but my heart completely melted when I was given this notebook made by local middle school students. To the sweet kids who made these for the patients here: you absolutely made my day."

Thank you, LIVBC, for reminding us all of the power of compassion, community, and kindness. 💙

Today we were honored to celebrate an extraordinary milestone of an outstanding employee, Nurse Andrea Scott, for “50” years of dedicated service in nursing at St. Catherine of Siena Hospital!

Her compassion and unwavering commitment have touched countless lives and helped shape the heart of our hospital from 1976- 2026!

Andrea started her career at St. Catherine working in the MedSurg unit from 1976 to 1984, followed by the CCU from 1984 to 2005, followed by interventional radiology. Of her 50 years at St. Catherine, Andrea mentioned how her colleagues felt like family, a home away from home.

Congratulations Andrea on this tremendous milestone!! We are so lucky to have you for all of these precious years!

We were especially grateful to be joined by 15 year old Aidan, who received a liver transplant when he was only two years old - a powerful reminder of how one selfless decision can impact and heal so many lives.
