Some things change and some things stay the same
Three of five yoga teachers who began our training in 2020 have successfully completed the training! Jess, Blue, and Ricky are OFFICIAL!!! This training for sure has been full of plot twists. The remaining two teachers are still in the program and scheduled to complete it this year: they were the two teachers whose family had COVID-19, and they both were out for a significant amount of time healing and caring for others. They continue to make up the work and we are very patient. As we transition to being a team of teachers, we are looking for a new studio space for us all to teach, and watching the world and our local community to make sure our timing is perfect.
This seems like a good time to experiment with changing the way I am teaching online for my public classes. For the month of July, I am not offering Monday classes. My Wednesday 6:30 pm class, Thursday 9 am class, will still be on zoom. Temporarily I am suspending the invitation to practice on my deck because I will be in East Nashville, at Eastside Manor teaching to family here during regular midweek zoom sessions. If you are in the neighborhood: there is a few spots for guests, please get in touch for an invitation.
The format is changing. The classes will be a little longer and will be more informative. Instead of focusing purely on the practice of physical asana, I will be teaching more philosophy, pranayama, and meditation during the sessions. I will record them, and they will be available all week to participants. So, you can do the practice as many times as you want in a week. If you are unable to make it to the scheduled class, you can do it later after you get off of work or the baby gets to sleep or whatever your life has on tap for the day.
Please do let me know if you want me to send you a link, so you can enjoy the class at your leisure. It will be available as a youtube link, and I am experimenting with dropbox too, so that people with unpredictable internet can participate too.
The cost of the new sessions will remain sliding scale and no one turned away for lack of funds. I recommend $20 donation per class ( all money is going to our re-opening fund), or continue supporting the school with a monthly subscription type donation. Leopard's qigong class continues to be available on Friday mornings, as well, as part of your healing arts club membership.
Lake yoga will resume later in the season. We are breaking for the heat of the summer and also while the marina uses our yoga floor for repairs.
Ricky and I are still sporadically getting together to practice our unique system of karate at the marina, please let me know if you or your child is interested in joining us, I will put you on the short list of friends to call when we set up sessions.
