Shaun "Weasel" Bain age 52 of Smithville passed away Thursday January 1, 2026, at St. Thomas Stones River Hospital ER from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. He was born December 17, 1973, to his late father, L. G. Bain and his mother, Jan Nelson Bain Fisher. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Lee Bain; mother of his son, Melissa Presley; paternal grandparents, Honest & Jewel Bain, maternal grandparents, James and Louise Nelson. Mr. Bain was a Baptist, worked in road construction and roofing. He is survived by son, Devin (Rikki) Bain of Allons, TN; granddaughter, Jaime Bain; mother, Jan (Sammy) Fisher of Smithville; brother, Joshua Bain (Jennifer Linder) of Smithville; sister, Shelia Bain of Smithville; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday January 4, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Bobby Lee Yount, Sr. age 63 of Smithville, passed away Thursday January 1, 2026, at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born November 13, 1962, to his parents the late Johnny Ray and Jere Lee Wallace Yount, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dallas Yount. Mr. Yount was a tow truck driver and served in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Yount of Smithville; children, Bobby Yount, Jr of Smithville, Rebecca (Jesse) VanDyne of Smithville; grandchildren, Lillian and Andrew VanDyne; brothers, Johnny Yount, Jr. of Watertown, Benny Yount of Carthage, Roger (Kathy) Yount of GA, and Ricky (Kathy) Yount of Lebanon; sisters, Regina Yount of Lebanon, Beverly Yount of Nashville, Marsha Yount of Virginia and Kathy Yount. A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Monday January 5, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and Military Honors will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Monday 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers the family has ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Randy Frank Vanderpool age 70 of Liberty, passed away Friday morning, January 2, 2026, at his residence. He was born October 22, 1955, to his parents, the late Frank and Lora Dell Mathis Vanderpool. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Vanderpool. Randy worked for several years at Fakes and Ho**er Lumber in Lebanon and 22 years at Tenneco. He was a member of the Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Kim Vanderpool of Liberty; stepdaughter, Brianna (Clint) Desroches of Westmoreland. Graveside services and interment will be 1 PM Monday, January 5, 2026, at Sycamore Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. There will not be any services or visitation at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the service at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Anita Chapman age 66 of the Gassaway community of Liberty passed away Wednesday morning, December 31, 2025, at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. She was born April 24, 1959, to her parents, the late William Franklin and Helen Marie Reece Golden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Ann Pascal; sister, Angela Darlene Golden; brother, Kenneth Ray Golden. Anita was a Methodist and factory worker. She is survived by her husband, Claude Chapman of Liberty; stepson, Jason Chapman of Smithville; two sisters, Janice (John) Cooper of West Virginia and Debbie Young (Jeff Rhea) of Smithville; two brothers, Wayne Golden of Clinton, TN and Billy (Brandy) Golden of Smithville; half-brother, Willie Bethel Golden of Smithville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, January 3, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Wilson Williams officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 4 PM until 7 PM and Saturday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Sue Foster age 79 of Smithville, was born December 4, 1946, to her parents, the late William and Merta Ethal Brown Wallace and departed this life on Wednesday morning, December 31, 2025, at NHC HealthCare in Smithville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonya Foster; sister, Mary Gaddis and five brothers, Carl, John, Earl, Billy and Stanley Wallace. Mrs. Sue was a Methodist and homemaker. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Joe Foster, Sr. of Smithville; two sons, Joey (Dana) Foster, Jr. of Owensboro, KY and Dave (Gina) Foster of Broken Arrow, OK; seven grandchildren, Madison, Morgan and Gabriel Foster, Karie Padgett, Tyler Fewell, Lucas and John Foster; four great-grandchildren, Zackery, Addalyn, Sadie and Jasmine Foster; two sisters, Linda Decker and Sarah Uerkwitz both of IL; brother, Bob Wallace of Smithville. Tyler Lee Bennett age 33 of Nashville and formerly of Smithville, passed away Friday morning, December 26, 2025, in Nashville. He was born December 6, 1992, in Smithville to his parents, the late Michael Bennett and Crystal Ballard Allen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Everly Vincent. He worked in landscaping and lawncare. He is survived by his wife, Shana Bennett of Nashville; two sons, Sebastion Bennett and Ethan Smith both of Crossville; four siblings, Kayla Wheeler of Smithville, Cole Wheeler of Dayton, Jacob Allen and Ezra Allen both of Pikeville; uncle, Robert England of Crossville and aunt, Cassie England of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The family has honored Tyler's request to be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Jerry Wayne McCormick age 75 of Smithville, was born August 29, 1950, and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, December 25, 2025, at his home in Smithville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Faye Brown McCormick and a brother, Ricky McCormick. Jerry was a U.S. Army Veteran, worked as an aircraft mechanic and was a member of the Buckners Chapel Church. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 41 years, Libby McCormick of Smithville; 4 daughters, Adrienne McCormick and Ashley McCormick both of Smithville, Christina Brown, and Teri Keith of Bristol; grandchildren, Sebastian McCormick, Dalton Keith and Dylan Keith; brother, Bobby McCormick of Lawrenceburg, sister, Brenda McCormick of Westmoreland, sister-in-law, Debbie (Van) Mathis of Liberty; brother-in-law, Jeff (Michelle) Parsley of Nashville and several nieces and nephews. The family has honored Jerry's request to be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Buckners Chapel Church with Darrell Gill and Grant Goodwin officiating. Jerry Lee "Frog" Estes age 64, of Liberty passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at St Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born July 3, 1961, to his parents the late Alvie Lee Estes and Dixie Cleo Stanley Sweeten. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Tammye Estes; son, Jerry Lee Esters; sister, Lisa DeVault and Gina Roller; brother, Ricky "Bell" Estes. Mr. Estes was a tree trimmer for many years. He is survived by 4 grandchildren, Austin Estes of Liberty, Destiny and Monie Murphy, Allie Estes all of Smithville; 2 great-grandchildren, Adessa Cantrell and Kingston Zaderiko; 3 sisters, Kathy (Bruce) Chapman of Liberty, Doreen Pedigo of Liberty, Patsy McCoy of Smithville; brother, Jimmy Estes of Liberty; Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew, and friends; Special Friends, Will & Bethany Rackley. Thursday night we paused for our 12th Annual Christmas Memorial Service to remember each of the loved ones we have cared for in the past year and to love and comfort the family members as they face the Christmas Season without them. Special “Thank You” to Bro. B J Thomason, Katherine Pack, Tony Cross, Trena Collins, Travis Johnson, The Veterans Honor Guard for a beautiful service. Also to Mike McMillen and Sister Cornelius for stepping up and helping finish the decorations and getting the finishing touches on Wednesday, while Tara was in the hospital, yall did awesome. To Jenean Lawson for the refreshments that were delicious. Our staff for the commitment you have to ministry in caring for each family. Most of all to each family that places their trust and confidence in us to care for your loved one and help you through the difficult time. We are humbled by your trust and confidence placed in us. May God bless you and your family during this special time of the year and throughout 2026.
