The Art of Nature Project
A major Mosaic Art Installation!
This is my part of it:
My Design is based on Concentric Circles
which represent the Cyclical Seasons.
I'm using rocks from the Colorado River,
metals salvaged from the historic Bastrop Fire,
ceramics, glass, mirrors, local snail shells, magnets
(yes, people can leave a note at the front door
attached to the sculpture)..
and even some semi-precious stones embedded in jewelry.
The four by four square is divided into quadrants
winter, spring, summer and autumn
and the community members are happily challenged
to come up with objects which represent each season-
Such as flowers, leaves, bees and snowflakes made
from the materials list.
My concentric circle design
will appear to the left of the front door at the Entrance.
I am working right now with the Home Schoolers
and After-schoolers. Parents are joining in with
wonderful suggestions of their own, and
community members who have "Seasonal Ideas"
are dropping by to add pieces to the circles.
This has been a fun project for me (Kandra Niagra)
and most rewarding to hear comments like:
"Wow! We are participating in a major Art Installation-
we can show our friends for years to come
how we helped with this project!"
