We would like to thank Smithville-Dekalb Co. Rescue squad fo their help during this last weekend with the icy roads. They volunteered their time and kept their station manned 24 hours a day to run calls with EMS. This service made sure that our EMS personnel could safely access patients who needed medical care and EMS could not get the ambulances to some of these locations here in Dekalb Co. These men and women braved the ice, snow and cold so their community was taken care of. They even fed our EMS people! We are blessed to have some of the most dedicated people with a servant’s heart here in this county.
We would like to also thank ALL emergency services for their great work during this time as well. Every time we were out, along with us, Dekalb Sheriff’s deputies, Smithville Police, Alexandria Fire, Dekalb Fire and Smithville Fire either on scene, or ready to respond.
Lastly, this “Thank you” is not only for emergency services but thank you to City of Smithville workers out treating the streets, utilities having to respond, and hands down the best TDOT crews around. Thank you all for working tirelessly through the storm and also the preparations done before the storm that made it possible for everyone to navigate through our city and county during this time.
We would ask, if you see these men and women out, thank them for doing what they do best, and that is serving their County! They do not do this for the recognition, but they deserve it 100%!
