It’s amazing to watch our children grow up…achieving exciting milestones such as their first steps or successfully becoming potty trained. And as much as we want to encourage a certain level of independence, there are some things that they need help and supervision with.
😬 Surprisingly brushing their teeth is one of those things! Often we see children who have been brushing their teeth all by themselves, and they usually can’t wait to tell us. However, the mouth tells a different story.
🦷 Due to the lack of fine motor skills children under 8 often miss brushing important areas such as where the gums meet the teeth, backside of front bottom teeth, and the back teeth in general.
🦠 This can lead to a build up of plaque and the potential for cavities to form.
Therefore, it’s important to help them brush all sides of the teeth for a minimum of 2 minutes.
🎶 So get out their favorite tunes and make dental hygiene fun!
