🔥 Safety Myth Busted!

You’ve probably heard that putting butter or ointment on a burn helps it heal—but that’s actually a dangerous myth! These substances trap heat and can make the burn worse. Instead, cool the area with cool running water or cool compresses for 10–20 minutes and, if needed, cover with a clean, dry dressing.

Founded in 2006, Sunshine Safety began as a small, part-time business focused solely on lifeguard training. What started as a side passion quickly grew into a thriving health and safety training company. As Sunshine continued her teaching career, she expanded her business to include CPR, First Aid, and a wide range of American Red Cross and HSI certification courses. Now operating as Sunshine Safety of GA, LLC, the company offers comprehensive training for individuals and organizations across Georgia and beyond, including BLS, and babysitter training. She continues to expand her own professional education by becoming a Certified Pool Operator and with OSHA Certification soon to follow. Built on Sunshine’s dedication to excellence, education, and empowerment, Sunshine Safety continues to help individuals, businesses, and communities stay safe, skilled, and prepared.

Sunshine is the Founder, Owner, and Lead Trainer of Sunshine Safety of GA, LLC, where she has dedicated more than 30 years to teaching life-saving skills and empowering others to make a difference. Drawn to both health and education from an early age, her passions have guided her life’s work. What began with teaching stuffed animals during the school year and giving “swim lessons” to fish in the local pool evolved into two lifelong callings: health and teaching. She began her career at 15 as a lifeguard and went on to earn a degree in Exercise Science, later completing her Master’s in Physical Education and Coaching Administration, and her Ed.S. in Administration, Leadership & Policy. Over the years, Sunshine has served as a health and physical education teacher, coach, and now a high school chemistry teacher—all while growing her safety training company. A lifelong learner, she continues to expand her skills, certifications, and influence, and will begin her doctorate this summer.
