🚨 Allergic Reaction: Do You Know What to Do?

Allergic reactions can happen quickly and sometimes become life-threatening. Knowing what to do can make a critical difference.

If someone is having an allergic reaction:
1️⃣ Look for symptoms – hives, swelling (especially face/lips), trouble breathing, dizziness, or vomiting.
2️⃣ Ask if they have an epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen) and help them use it if needed.
3️⃣ Call 911 immediately if symptoms are severe or worsening.
4️⃣ Keep the person calm and sitting upright if they are having trouble breathing.
5️⃣ Stay with them until help arrives.

⚠️ Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) can escalate fast. Quick action saves lives.

While you’re changing your clocks, take a few extra minutes to do these important safety checks:

🍿🥨 March 4 is National Snack Day! 🍎🍫

We all have a favorite snack… but do we all know what to do if someone chokes on a snack?! 👀

Choking can happen quickly — especially with foods like popcorn, grapes, nuts, hard candy, or chunks of meat. Knowing how to respond can make all the difference.

🚨 If someone is choking and cannot speak, cough, or breathe:
✔️ Call 911
✔️ Begin abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver)
✔️ Continue until the object is expelled or help arrives

For infants, the steps are different — alternating back blows and chest thrusts is key.

Spring is right around the corner… and so are those seasonal allergies 🤧🌼

As you swap out winter coats for lighter layers, take a minute to check your allergy medications. Are they expired? Running low? Stored properly? Expired medications can lose effectiveness — and that’s the last thing you want when pollen starts flying!

✔️ Check expiration dates
✔️ Restock if needed
✔️ Store meds in a cool, dry place
✔️ Make sure children’s medications are dosed correctly for their age/weight
