My Poem for Holy Saturday
SINGING IN THE SILENCE
I’m singing in the silence
Of Holy Saturday,
He said that, “It is Finished,”
Only yesterday.
I’m singing in the silence
Between loss and life made new,
Facing nights of darkness,
While in silence I wait for you.
I’m singing in the silence
Suspended between the times,
Yesterday was love completed,
Tomorrow comes the surprise.
I’m singing in the silence,
You have broken the gates of hell.
Adam and Eve released now,
Death has been dispelled.
I’m singing in the darkness,
The ages feel the strain,
I feel the hope before me,
But I still can feel the pain.
I hear a whisper in the darkness,
A promise to heal my heart.
Tomorrow you will be with me,
Never to depart. .
The Cross is right behind me.
Tomorrow an empty grave.
I’m singing in the darkness,
Waiting the coming day.
Dawn on me in the darkness,
Fill me with your love.
Your promise needs fulfillment,
Send your peace-giving dove.
Your presence fills this absence;
I know you are not gone.
Help me live into your future,
Let the past be moving on.
I’m’ singing in the dawning,
Of Holy Saturday.
He said that “it is finished,”
Now I look to His new day.
Singing, I’m singing,
Singing, I’m still singing,
I will always be singing,
Waiting on your love.
