🔎Once you really start checking labels, it’s wild what’s hiding in everyday cleaners. 😐

So let’s start simple …. the kitchen.

Try one of these easy all-purpose sprays:

🌿Option 1

¼ cup white vinegar
1 ¾ cups water
30 drops essential oil

🌿Option 2

2 tbsp On Guard Cleaning Concentrate
15 drops essential oil
Top with distilled water

Add to a 16 oz spray bottle, shake, and use on countertops and sealed surfaces.

Simple. Effective. Way cheaper than store-bought.

😕Dust has a way of showing up five minutes after you just cleaned.

And those fluffy feather dusters? They mostly just send it flying somewhere else.🙄

If you actually want to trap the dust instead of relocating it, reusable cloths are the way to go.

🍃Here’s an easy mix:

2 cups distilled water
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp white vinegar
25 drops Lemon or Lime oil

✂️Cut 3–5 cloth towels into smaller sections. In a large bowl, combine the water, olive oil, vinegar, and Lemon oil. Add the cloths and let them soak until fully saturated.

Wring each one out well, roll them up tightly, and store in an airtight container.

When they start to dry out, just lightly dampen them with water and they’re ready again.

🙂Another great option is the Norwex dust mitt! Reach out if you have questions on Norwex. And no, I'm not selling Norwex now. Just love it for my non-toxic home. It's all about making great healthier choices.

Are you team reusable, or do you still reach for disposables?

😐That blue glass cleaner. It’s been a household staple forever… but if you’ve already started swapping out other cleaners, this one is an easy upgrade.

🍃Grab a 16 oz spray bottle and mix:

1 ½ cups white vinegar
½ cup distilled water
8 drops of your favorite citrus oil

Shake before each use and spray onto glass or mirrors. Wipe with a lint-free cloth for a streak-free finish.

It cuts through fingerprints, makeup splatter, and everyday smudges without synthetic fragrance or mystery ingredients.

🙂Simple ingredients. Costs almost nothing. Gets the job done.

You know how I mentioned Norwex a few days ago? I love their window cloth! Cleans windows, mirrors and other glass and shiny surfaces with just water. https://www.norwex.com/hxjniwq and search window to learn more.

Slow drain? 😬 Weird smell coming from the sink?

Before grabbing one of those heavy-duty chemical clog removers, try this first.

🌿You’ll need:

¼ cup baking soda

¼ cup white vinegar

3 drops Wild Orange (or another citrus oil)

Add the essential oil directly into the drain. Follow with the baking soda, then pour in the vinegar. It will fizz right away. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.

Then flush with hot water, followed by cold water.

Have you ever tried cleaning a drain this way?

It's that time of year to get prepared for flea & tick season!

Remember to always heavily dilute essential oils with animals!

Before you buy another “restore & shine” product with a long ingredient list, try this instead.

You only need:

¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup vinegar
10 drops essential oil (Wild Orange, Lemon, or Arborvitae all work well)

Pour the olive oil and vinegar into a glass spray bottle, add your oils, and shake well before each use. Spray lightly onto a microfiber cloth and wipe down your wood surfaces.

Use it every couple of months or whenever your tables and floors start looking tired.

Most people don’t think twice about them… but whatever is in that little pod ends up coating the plates, cups, and silverware you use every day. 🤔

If you’ve already started swapping cleaners in other areas of your home, this one makes sense too.

🌿Here’s a simple version you can make yourself:

1 cup baking soda
¼ cup citric acid
1 tbsp On Guard Cleaner Concentrate
5 drops Grapefruit essential oil (or another citrus oil)

🥄Mix everything together in a bowl until the texture is uniform. Press the mixture firmly into silicone molds and let them sit for about 4 hours to harden. Once set, store the tabs in an airtight container and use them just like store-bought ones.

They clean well, smell fresh, and you know exactly what went into them.

🙂And if DIY isn’t your thing, no problem. You can always use the doTERRA dishwasher pods instead and skip the mixing altogether.
Okay I must admit, if doTERRA has something all ready to go, I'm in and haven't been disappointed! Check out the dishwasher tabs here: https://www.doterra.com/US/en/p/abode-dishwasher-pods?OwnerID=2972920

😬There was a time (long ago) when I could not live without those big-brand disinfecting wipes. Every spill. Every sticky counter. Grab a wipe.

😯Then I looked at the ingredient list.

If you still love the convenience but don’t love what’s in them, this is a solid swap.

You’ll need:

1 roll premium paper towels
2 cups warm water
2 tbsp Fractionated Coconut Oil
5 drops On Guard
1–2 tbsp On Guard Foaming Hand Wash

🔪Slice the paper towel roll in half using a serrated knife. Place one half into an airtight container.

🍃In a separate bowl, mix the warm water, FCO, On Guard, and the foaming hand wash. Pour the liquid evenly over the paper towels. Cover and let it soak for about 10 minutes, then flip the container and let it sit another 10 minutes so everything distributes evenly.

Once fully saturated, pull out the cardboard tube from the center. The wipes will dispense from the middle.

They’re convenient, they smell amazing, and you know exactly what’s in them.

I have a friend that sells Norwex and I personally love using all their towels/cloths for clean up! I'll share a separate post on that. 🙂

You open the door, glance at the baked-on splatter, and quietly decide it can wait another week.

If you’ve been avoiding the harsh oven sprays because of the fumes, this is a much better option.

🍃Mix together:

½ cup baking soda
1 tbsp coarse salt
¼ cup liquid dish soap
5 drops Lemon essential oil (or another citrus oil)

🥄Stir until it forms a thick paste. Spread a generous layer all over the inside of the oven and let it sit for a few hours. Then wipe everything down with a damp sponge.

That’s it.

The baking soda loosens buildup, the soap helps break down grease, and the citrus oil leaves things smelling fresh instead of chemical-heavy.

Would you try this, or is the oven still on your “ignore for now” list? 😉

💞As I'm sharing great doTERRA recipes & products for living in a toxin free home, I would also love to share another company that has some beneficial products that I use as well.

😀Norwex! They have a lot of overlapping products that are great but I LOVE all the towels/cloths and have replaced all of them in our home with Norwex.

"At Norwex our mission is to share a cleaner, safer way of living by reducing harmful chemicals in every day lives, allowing you to: live cleaner - by reducing harmful chemicals and waste, live safer - by reducing the impact of toxins in your home, and live better - by helping others adopt a healthier way of life. Mechanical cleaning REMOVES bacteria and dirt from surfaces, eliminating the need to treat with a chemical, which leaves behind a residue and potential toxins (along with dead bacteria). "

My friend, and Norwex consultant, Jen Winckler is amazing too.

🔦 Sunday Spotlight - Lemon 😊

🍋Lemon is in several of the recipes this month so I thought I'd share the emotional side, along with some other awesome benefits, of this extremely versatile oil. What a concept. Positive emotional benefits while cleaning!

🔎Lemon - The Oil of Focus

💛The delightful citrusy aroma of Lemon engages the mind and aids concentration - improves the ability to focus, dispelling confusion and bestowing clarity. Counterbalancing mental fatigue from too much studying or reading, lemon restores energy, mental flexibility, and the drive to complete a project.

😊It's a wonderful aid for children struggling in school. Especially helpful in cases of learning issues, lemon clears self-judgments such as "I'm dumb" or "I'm not a good student," calming fears & insecurities to then restore confidence.

💛Lemon helps in releasing feelings of despair and hopelessness by restoring feelings of joy and happiness. It inspires joyful involvement in the present moment by infusing the soul energy, confidence, and alertness.

🤗Ways to use:

🔸️Simply inhale from the bottle or diffuse before mental exertion or during work or study.

🔸️Dilute 1 - 3 drops in a carrier oil and apply topically on the wrists and temples. NOTE: Lemon is photosensitive. Do not apply to the skin that will be exposed to the sun within 12 hours.

🔸️Internally, put a drop under the tongue, in a capsule or in your water. NOTE: only use oils in stainless steel or glass - not plastic.

🍃A few companion oils: Rosemary, Dill, Peppermint, Green Mandarin, Lemon Myrtle as well as the blends InTune, Harvest Spice, Island Mint and Sunny Citrus.

😋 YUM! Let's not forget as delicious addition to recipes!
🍋Lemon essential oil is often used in cooking and is popular in both savory and sweet dishes. Add a few drops to marinades for fish and chicken or to add a little zing to salad dressings. A favorite addition to cookies, cakes, puddings, and pastries, Lemon is equally tasty in green smoothies. It also makes a natural water flavoring.

😃Fun Fact! Lemon essential oil is cold-pressed from the rind of the fruit. On average, a single Lemon tree produces between 500 and 600 lemons a year, which yield approximately seven ounces of Lemon essential oil annually.

🔬The primary constituent of Lemon essential oil is Limonene, which is why it is included of many of the DIY recipes I've shared to make your own green cleaning products that are free of harmful chemicals and safe for your home and family.

🔸️Add to a spray bottle with water to clean tables, countertops, and other surfaces.

🔸️Combine a few drops with olive oil to clean, protect, and shine wood finishes.

🔸️Soak a cloth and wipe down your leather furniture and garments for increased preservation and protection.

🔸️Use to remove early stages of tarnish on silver and other metals.

🔸️GOT STICKY? Gum in the hair, sticky residue, grease in the garage, you name it, lemon is my first go to!

🔸️Permanent markers accidently used? Try lemon to remove it!

🌍doTERRA Lemon essential oil is sourced in Italy and Brazil, which offer ideal growing conditions for producing this bright and tangy essential oil.
