🍂🎃NEXT COMMUNITY WELLNESS WALK ~ NOVEMBER 2🍁✨ Hope to seek folks there!
Per our (new) monthly social media tradition, we wanted to share the mindfulness theme for those who couldn’t make the last walk in person. October’s theme was ‘rememberence’ or the act of remembering. Surrounded by the evident signs of the turning season - the chill air, crunching leaves beaneath our feet, birds scouring the last of the berries before winter - it’s no wonder that human cultures around the world have marked the end of summer/early fall as a time to hold festivities remembering those who’ve passed on: Día de Mu***os, Obon, All Soul’s Day, Samhain, and Halloween just to name a few.
But loved ones who’ve died aren’t the only form of loss that touches our lives nor is it the only loss worthy of our reflection. We can equally feel the loss of a career, a relationship, a dear animal companion, past versions of ourselves, friendships, community, dreams unrealized, identity, and more. None of us are immune to loss’s touch, so how can we engage with loss in a manner that leads not just to grief, but that helps us move towards the joy and meaning that can grow from the undesired absence of that which we’ve loved. One way is by engaging with intention in remembrance - confronting the beauty and flaws of that which is lost, in order to better understand and honor this important piece of your life that is no longer with you.
It’s still October, so when you have a moment please join the Kindling community in taking a walk, breathing the cold fall air, and offering yourself some kindness as you reflect on October’s theme.
