"No pain, no gain" is a common phrase you might hear when trying to get in shape. However, a different approach is required when rehabbing or recovering from an injury. Pushing beyond the tolerance of an injured body part is likely to increase pain and worsen or aggravate the injury. When you push an injury to its tolerance, and do not go beyond that, it allows the tissue to adapt to the stress, so that when you go back to that same activity the tissue is more prepared for that level of stress. When done this way you are more likely to see steady improvement and an overall return back to the prior level of function sooner than if you are pushing through the pain.

More Than Rehab—A Mission to Keep Snyder Moving

Daniel Burk, the dedicated physical therapist behind Snyder Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab, has always championed the philosophy that "motion is lotion," emphasizing movement as a cornerstone of healing and well-being. His commitment to personalized, hands-on therapy has earned unwavering support from the Snyder community, laying a solid foundation for the clinic's success.

As Daniel looks to the future, he plans to expand the clinic's offerings by integrating occupational medicine services. A pivotal component of this expansion is the introduction of the WorkSTEPS program, a nationally recognized employment testing system designed to ensure that new hires are physically capable of performing their job duties safely. By implementing WorkSTEPS' Post-Offer Employment Testing (POET) and Fit For Duty Testing, Daniel aims to assist employers in reducing workplace injuries and associated costs.

The POET program evaluates whether employment candidates can safely perform the essential functions of the job they've been offered, thereby lowering workers' compensation costs and boosting productivity by ensuring that capable workers are ready to contribute. Additionally, Fit For Duty Testing helps determine if employees returning from illness or injury can safely resume their job responsibilities, facilitating informed decisions about return-to-work policies.

By incorporating these services, Snyder Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab will not only enhance its role in promoting individual health but also contribute significantly to workplace safety and efficiency within the community. Daniel's vision is to create a safer, more productive work environment by ensuring that employees are well-matched to their job's physical demands, ultimately benefiting both employers and the workforce in Snyder.

Our latest feature highlights "Homegrown Healing in Snyder"

When Daniel Burk opened Snyder Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab, he wasn’t just starting a business—he was answering a need in his hometown.
As a Snyder native and 2008 high school graduate, Daniel built his career in physical therapy with one goal in mind: to bring top-tier rehab care back to his community. After years of working in hospitals and sports medicine clinics, he realized something was missing—personalized, unrushed care that truly helps people heal.

At his clinic, located at 2518 Avenue R, Daniel and his staff strive to offer a personal and attentive therapy experience for all of their patients.
His facility isn’t just about basic rehab; it’s equipped with sports-specific gear like sleds, squat racks, and ladders, making it the go-to spot for everyone from WTC athletes to hardworking Snyder locals recovering from injuries.

But what really made this possible? The Snyder community.
● Before the clinic even opened, patients were calling to book appointments.
● Some paid out of pocket before insurance contracts were finalized—just to support him.
● Local physicians, nurses, and former patients spread the word and made sure he hit the ground running.

And his small but mighty team—including his wife, mother, and dedicated staff—keeps things running smoothly.

Now, Daniel is looking ahead to expanding services, bringing in more therapists, and growing into occupational medicine. But no matter how big it gets, Snyder is home—and this clinic is his way of giving back.

“This town has given me everything—and I just want to give something back.” Come back tomorrow for Part 2 of Daniel's story and his plans for the future!

Retirement is a good goal and something we should look forward to, but we shouldn't overlook the good that work does for our body and function. Many times, the tasks required for our jobs are the very things that help us maintain our strength and quality of life. When you retire it is vital that you create work for yourself to prevent loss of strength and function. This may look like picking up a new hobby (pickle ball, disc golf, gardening/yard work, etc.). Finding something to keep yourself active will go a long way towards making your retirement years your best years!

If you've spent any time with me in therapy, you have heard me say the phrase "motion is lotion". All this means is that our bodies prefer to move as opposed to staying still. This principle holds true with injury as well! An injured body part craves motion and often times is relieved with movement. Next time you are feeling pain try motion, within pain free ranges, to lotion up and relieve your pain! -Daniel
