Clothing those who need clothing is one of the acts of kindness most basic to humanity and shows the goodness of its people. During the winter season this means more than a good pair of pants and a shirt (although that is a good start too!)

The holiday season is often a time of enjoying the best food with our loved ones, especially the tasty treats! Puerto Seguro has been there to serve hot meals several times a week including that holiday meal. They also provide more portable food items such as jerky and cheese, fruit packets and soup cups.
You can help feed the hungry by dropping off food donations at Puerto Seguro weekdays (except Tuesdays) from 10-2 or at Dr. Beers office using the drop off box or by your financial gift online at https://www.psisafeharbor.org/

Living in such a prosperous nation, a warm bed can be taken for granted. Those without a permanent place to live may not have easy access to a quality place to sleep. That is why the gift of a sleeping bag can be of such great value. Especially during the winter. When people leave Puerto Seguro and the temps drop before they find the next quality shelter, a sleeping bag that can stand up to cold nights can make a big difference at increasing the odds of survival.

This holiday season, as we recognize the blessings we enjoy, we are reminded of those people who need our help. Puerto Seguro – Safe Harbor is the place for people to receive that help in Socorro county. From shelter and food to clothing and toiletries, our most vulnerable turn to us for help through Puerto Seguro. Over the next week we hope to highlight these needs and how you can be a part of the solution for the homeless, hungry and those in need of clothes.
Puerto Seguro is always in need of items such as sleeping bags, blankets, beanies, gloves and toiletries as well food items. You can drop off such donations on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 10am and 2pm at 519 Old US Hwy 85 in Socorro or at Dr. Beers office Monday through Thursday using the drop box inside the front door. Consider helping your neighbor this holiday season as they look for shelter, food and clothes.
