We beat the slugs this year! Ed cut the bottoms off some nursery pots and we added copper tape. Slugs do not like copper. It worked perfectly. I also spread slug repellent throughout the beds early to help control them.

Ed painted the gnome base to be rocky. I love it.

I gave up with the grandchildren’s garden! The perennials they planted never come back! My plan now is to make it for the birds. I’ll use potted plants each spring.

Everything is growing beautifully! Loving this warm sun. Sitting on the deck with Ed just taking it all in. He’s been staining the shed and hanging the owl house, bat house and bird houses we make together.

Meet Trevor Speakman! He is our “son” and friend. He took care of all the starts and seed germination while we were traveling the lower 48 for 6 weeks in the spring. This garden wouldn’t have happened without him. His support of Ed and I play an important part in caring for our property all year round. The wicking system is really working!

This is the wicking system we used. The 4” grower’s bags were rigged with a length of wicking rope that hung in the water in a container beneath the wire racks. It has germinated the seeds and maintained the watering/feeding of the plants. It’s an experiment that so far is working as planned (and hoped).

Getting my starts going this past April. I’ve set up a wicking rope system to feed and water the starts. It’s been doing really well.
