I’ve been slowly starting seeds since January. Most are flowers and herbs. I’ve started onions and peppers as well. Right now, I have them on lifts to be close to the lights. It’s supposed to get nice the freezing mark this week and we can check out the greenhouse. I’ve put a pop up greenhouse inside a pop up greenhouse inside the greenhouse which might give me the protection I need to move these inside that warmer growing zone when it’s time to start my veggies in a couple of weeks.

Today is March 20th, the onset of spring😳. That’s nearly 2’ of snow blanketing my raised beds.
But I keep moving forward. Have my onions and other starts growing inside. This year I’ve started companion plants to combat the aphids and other pests that love my greenhouse plants as much as I do!
I’ve started Alpine strawberries, edible violets, rosemary, purple and sweet basil.
I had such luck last year with a wicking system that easily kept it all watered and fertilized while I was away for a couple months. So I’m using a version of that this spring to make my life a bit easier to start dozens of plants this spring without spending all day keeping it all watered and fed.

I’ve started my onion seeds and perennials and herbs. The world fades away as I watch these seeds grow.

This will be me in a week!
I’ll be starting my onions, leeks, and shallots in 2 weeks.

We beat the slugs this year! Ed cut the bottoms off some nursery pots and we added copper tape. Slugs do not like copper. It worked perfectly. I also spread slug repellent throughout the beds early to help control them.

Ed painted the gnome base to be rocky. I love it.
