💙NEXT WEEK IS OBESITY CARE WEEK💙
‼️Tirzepatide Updates:
-FDA approved to treat moderate to severe sleep apnea as of 12/2024. We anticipate insurance to elect into coverage for this indication likely 2025 (possibly 2024 for those with a July Fiscal Year)
-Expanded dosing options for cash-pay direct from Eli Lilly for the 5, 7.5 and 10 mg dosing. $499/month direct ship to consumer
💡Important Note: while compounds serve as an alternative to provide access to weight management for those without insurance coverage; they are NOT FDA approved. Eli Lilly has decreased their pricing to provide a financially sustainable option for long-term weight loss.
ℹ️GLP/GIP:
-intended for long-term weight loss (chronic)
-cessation of use can lead to rapid re-gain of visceral fat (fat surrounding organs) which increases risk of long-term health complications
-weight re-gain is highly likely despite adhering to continued diet and exercise routines w/cessation. This is due to the body’s ‘metabolic set point’ at its highest weight. Obesity is a CHRONIC DISEASE not a lifestyle problem.
💙Because obesity is not a choice—it’s a complex disease that requires our compassion, support and understanding.
Whether you’re personally affected by obesity, a loved one of someone affected, a healthcare professional or policymaker, we all have a role to play in committing to what REAL care looks like.💙
🫶Our office will never shame you. We are here to help you on your wellness journey through compassion, education, diet guidance and support. You will never have “Ozempic-face” because we continually monitor your muscle mass and ensure you are losing weight in the healthiest way possible.

With a lifelong passion to help people achieve wellness, Tanecia began her medical journey after losing a close loved-one to cancer. Starting as a CNA on a cardiac critical care unit and then as an EMT in the Emergency Department, Tanecia recognized a common misconception with many patients that she had the privilege to care for. When asking patients if they had chronic medical conditions, many would say ‘no’, or when asked what they were taking specific medications for, many patients would say ‘I don’t know, my doctor told me to take them, so I am’.
This lack of patient knowledge gave Tanecia a desire to be more directly involved in patient’s personal healthcare, which led her to pursue and earn her Master's of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Nevada Reno where she graduated with honors. She has over 10 years of experience in the medical field. Her experience has included working in the Operating Room specializing in Cardio-Thoracic and Neurosurgery, Indiana University Lifeline in Critical Care Transport, Indiana University Health as a Charge Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit, Stanford Healthcare Cardio-Thoracic Transplant Unit and level II Trauma Hospitals as an Intensive Care and Emergency Room Charge Nurse.
Recognizing that the key to wellness is understanding one’s condition and being an active participant in their personal healthcare, Tanecia wants to make a difference in the community she was born and raised in, not only in the way patients receive their healthcare, but also in the way they engage in their care. She believes in bringing evidence-based guidelines to treat chronic medical conditions, while engaging the patient to address the underlying root cause of disease. She believes that every individual should be involved in their medical decision-making and recognize that they hold their own unique values and preferences. Not only should all individuals be treated with dignity, respect and sensitivity to their own cultural values, but they also have the right to be completely informed and understand their medical conditions. Patient-Centered Care is the foundation of Tanecia’s medical practice and involves caring for patients (and their families) in a way that is both meaningful and valuable to each individual patient.

Kasie Scheer started her career in medicine as an EMT in the small town she grew up in. Witnessing how underserved her community was and desiring to provide advanced care, she decided to pursue a degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Seattle University and graduated in 2005. She came to the Kenai Peninsula only 4 years later. Kasie has provided conventional family practice on the Peninsula for 10 years in a variety of settings. Her desire for learning and compassion for her patients, led her to explore a more holistic approach, focusing on helping her patients meet their goals and optimizing their overall wellness. This led her to pursue functional medicine training. She achieved her Functional Medicine Certification in 2019 from the Institute of Functional Medicine. Kasie approaches patient care from the perspective of support and teamwork, helping patients achieve their goals and supporting their decisions about their health and wellness. Kasie loves Alaska and in her free time, she enjoys exploring our great state, raising animals with her family on their hobby farm, and traveling the world.
Born and raised locally in Soldotna, Shane graduated from Skyview High School. He earned his Bachelors of Science from the University of Alaska Anchorage and his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Idaho State University. He has spent eight years of his medical career serving the people of the Kenaitze Indian Tribe and the last 2 1/2 years as an owner of Urgent Care of Soldotna providing family medical care and urgent care needs, respectively. In his free time he enjoys everything Alaska has to offer from fly-fishing, back packing, camping, mountain bike riding, hiking, riding horses, and hunting with his friends and family. Shane is currently accepting new patients of all ages, from infant to elderly, for any acute or urgent care need. He will be working out of our clinic for the next several months while establishing his new urgent care location.
