Thank you The Therapist Parent for this reminder.

"There is so much more to behaviour than most people think. Children don’t try to upset us, there is usually something behind it. They are communicating their need through behaviour. If we look behind the behaviour we can see a child who is doing the best they can."

Mindfulness is the practice of attuning our attention to the present moment. When we are grounded in our current space, we can become more aware of our bodies and emotions. When we are mindful of the present, we can practice well-being. Sometimes mindfulness is achieved through movement and sometimes through healing touch. How do you practice mindfulness; how do you experience awareness of your body, mind, and emotional being? Consider sharing your mindful practice in the comments below. 🌞

Trauma impairs our ability to experience the present moment. It impairs our ability to find joy, confidence, and our creative nature. When we find a way to heal, we regain our ability to imagine a better world for all. How has healing made space for creation in your present? Share in the comments below. 🌞

KNOW THE SIGNS!!

“Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person or a group covertly sows seeds of doubt in a targeted individual, making them question their own memory, perception, or judgment, often evoking in them cognitive dissonance and other changes such as low self-esteem. Using denial, misdirection, contradiction, and misinformation, gaslighting involves attempts to destabilize the victim and delegitimize the victim's beliefs. Instances can range from the denial by an abuser that previous abusive incidents occurred to the staging of bizarre events by the abuser with the intention of disorienting the victim.”

An example of gaslighting someone is demeaning him then saying “it was a joke” when the victim gets upset. 😢

Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse and it’s effects are chronic and traumatic.

I love Erickson’s 8 Stages! Successful completion of these stages is paramount for self-esteem, confidence, relationships, emotional regulation and understanding one’s value.

But get this, if we didn’t get it done in childhood we can have a redo!! As adults we can go back and complete those stages - hopefully with a therapist.

Erikson maintained that personality develops in a predetermined order through eight stages of psychosocial development, from infancy to adulthood. During each stage, the person experiences a psychosocial crisis which could have a positive or negative outcome for personality development.
