Many people associate the Fourth of July with food, fun and festivities. But, for pets, this day is commonly a time of stress and overstimulation.

More pets go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year. Fireworks, crowds and drastic changes in pets’ routines often lead to hiding and escape attempts.

Below are some helpful tips and tricks to ensure that both people and pets safely enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend!

The dog days of Summer have come early!

In these high temperatures it’s crucial that we monitor and manage our pets for signs of heat intolerance and intervene before it progresses to life-threatening heat stroke.

Any animal can develop heat stroke, but certain circumstances can place pets at a higher risk, such as…
-elderly pets
-pets with heart or respiratory conditions
-overweight pets
-brachycephalic breeds, such as Bulldogs, Pugs, Persians, Exotic Shorthairs, Boston Terriers, etc.
-pets without access to shade and water
-active, working breeds exercising in the high

Be sure your pet can beat the heat and lead a safe start to Summer with a little help from the tips below!

Happy World Veterinary Day 2025!

The world Veterinary Association founded this day in 2000 to highlight the veterinary professionals and their contributions to animal, environmental and public health.

Each year a theme is put forth to celebrate; this year’s is “Animal health takes a team”!

Arguably, no career is as dependant on teamwork as healthcare. A hospital’s success and efficiency lies in the sum of its parts. Our client service representatives, management, assistants, licensed technicians and veterinarians work tirelessly together for the end goal of advocating for animals’ wellbeing and improving the human-animal bond. This cooperation is vital to the high quality medicine and care that we consistently strive to provide.

To our phenominal healthcare team,
Thank you endlessly for the continued passion and support that you bring to our hospital! Thank you for constantly striving to be better, for endless hours of continuing education study, for being a lifeline for person or pet in need and for not only being consummate professionals, but genuinely incredible individuals! The sum of our parts is pretty amazing because of you ❤️

Every year, the final full week of April is designated National Veterinary Receptionist Week!On these days, we show our AMAZING client service representatives a little extra love and appreciation for all they do for clients, pets and staff alike!

Around the hospital, we often say these women have the most difficult job position. With every step of patient care, they are heavily involved, be it scheduling appointments, filling necessary prescriptions, helping ease pet parents’ anxieties and keeping them informed during hospital stays or being the first step in triaging incoming emergencies. They have been both the first voice you hear upon scheduling inaugural puppy and kitten visits, as well as played a vital part in counseling and consoling families during end of life care. They have been present for early morning assessments and late night discharges, keeping the channels of communication between staff and clients flowing consistently, ensuring thorough, up-to-date information to all involved. They have the experience to read between the lines of client concerns and see when subtle signs may indicate the need for immediate attention, ensuring conditions are caught and treated early. And beyond the highly capable professionals that they are, they are genuinely kind, compassionate, intelligent individuals with a passion for our patients well-being and comfort.

To Diane, Wendy, Taylor, Dana and our Hospital Manager, Lucy - thank you for all the of the hats you are made to wear on a daily basis and for handling all that comes your way with grace. We see you, we respect you and we love you!
