This week, our residents enjoyed an afternoon of camping stories, front porch visiting, s’mores, and camping themed decorations! Tina, our lead receptionist, keeps the white tree decorated for the seasons and made certain to have some necessary camping items on site for the residents to enjoy. This was such a fun and unique afternoon for everyone!

Last week, Jessica brought her service dog, Austin, to visit our residents. Austin is in training, and we hope to have him visit our residents and staff regularly! 🐾

Last week, representatives from Altercare Thornville, Altercare Somerset, Altercare Lanfair, and Altercare Canal Wi******er joined forces and attended the Fairfield Country Senior Expo. Jessica Martinez, Elizabeth Stevens, and Melissa Sheppard spent the day sharing information with nearly 300 attendees. This was such a great opportunity to represent Altercare and speak with the seniors in our community.

A few weeks ago, our Staff Coordinator, Courtney, and Admissions Coordinator, Missy, organized a fun event for staff and health care partners in our community! Everyone enjoyed tasty walking tacos and ice-cold lemon shake ups on a hot summer day. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed these delicious treats. 🌮🍋

In honor of back-to-school season, we had a school supplies giveaway for our dedicated team members. Our staff got to enter for the chance to win a boy's backpack and girl's backpack along with school supplies. One of our residents got to draw the two winners. Congratulations to Gaile Kinney and Kayla Watson for winning! We hope everyone has a wonderful school year! 🍎✏️

Meet our July Employee of the Month… Amber!

Amber Miller is our receptionist and also helps out in activities. During her 2 years as a part of our team, Amber has enjoyed building relationships with the residents and watching them succeed. Her motivation to come to work every day is being able to be a part of a great team and work environment. When asked what advice she would give to new employees joining the team, Amber stated, “Smile. You never know if someone’s having a rough day. Your smile could change someone’s day.

Amber has a dog and a cat. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephew, reading, and enjoying the outdoors. A fun fact about Amber is that her favorite food is Mexican!

We are so thankful to have Amber as a part of our team, and we can’t wait to see what her future has in store for her. Congratulations, Amber! 💙

Last week, Altercare Somerset and Altercare Thornville teamed up to attend the Perry County JFS monthly job fair. Regional Staff Coordinator, Katie Mossholder, Administrator, Andrea Cullinan, and Staff Coordinator, Courtney Riffee, represented Altercare alongside 11 other local business looking to recruit. These ladies did a wonderful job encouraging attendees to become part of our team and work alongside other passionate caregivers.

We hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July weekend! The Somerset Community Celebration is always held on the first Saturday of July to celebrate the 4th of July. Luckily, our facility is located at the end of the parade route and we are blessed with a great viewing spot! During the day, the residents enjoyed a cookout picnic with lots of yummy food and activities. We ended out day with a beautiful firework display! Special thank you to Kris, Tina, Trinity, Elyse, Matt, Peyton, Dalton, and all the staff and families for making sure our residents were safe during these exciting festivities! ❤🤍💙

Tomorrow and Saturday, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Somerset is holding the 135th Annual Garden Party. This event includes music, great food, community fun, and fellowship. Altercare Somerset is proud to be double diamond sponsor of the event, providing food through our sister company, Avalon Foodservice as well. Altercare president, Doug Mock, and Regional Vice President, Traci Schutte, were in Somerset for the day and were thrilled to see the preparations for this event. Last week, our residents spent Friday the 13th appropriately by watching Jaws! Everyone got a pair of sunglasses and a pool float to keep them afloat.
