A heartfelt thank you to Nancy and her sweet therapy dog, Peaches, for bringing so much joy to the children and staff at Katy’s Place!

During their visits, Peaches offers more than just cuddles—she creates a sense of calm, comfort, and connection that lights up the room. Whether it’s wagging tails or gentle snuggles, these moments mean the world to our little ones and the team that cares for them.

We’re so grateful to Nancy and Peaches for sharing their love and time with the CGE community. 💜🐾

Help shape the future of opioid recovery in Middlesex County.

Take the survey by Oct. 31 and recommend The Center for Great Expectations to receive funding that supports recovery, dignity, and hope for women and their children.

As you may know, states and local governments ― including Middlesex County ― have won damages through a federal settlement from various pharmaceutical companies across the opioid supply chain. This funding will continue for 18 years and must be used to help individuals and communities impacted ...

A huge thank you to Turner Construction Company for returning to CGE for the second year in a row to celebrate Founder’s Day by giving back in a big way!

This amazing team of 12 volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work—hanging shiplap wallpaper, deep-cleaning the kitchen, assembling a utility cart, and installing a beautiful art mural created by CGE clients and our Art Therapist, Doreen.

Creative, upbeat, and ready to jump in wherever needed—we’re so grateful for your time, talent, and continued partnership.

Here’s to another year of dedication, making a difference, and building community together.

Recovery is possible, and every story is a reminder of the power of hope, support, and second chances. One of our Roots to Recovery clients shared this powerful journey:

“My journey to Roots to Recovery began with a 15-year addiction to methamphetamines. Due to some poor choices, I was facing 5 years in prison when my lawyer recommended me to Middlesex County Recovery Court. I was then referred to Roots to Recovery IOP. The multifaceted care that I have received at Roots to Recovery has been truly life-changing. They have helped me go from rock bottom to feeling the best that I have felt in 20-plus years—all while keeping me out of prison and helping me to overcome my addiction.

The staff, counselors, and director at Roots to Recovery have been so supportive and helpful in my journey. It has been evident every step of the way how much they truly care. They have empowered me and given me hope when I was hopeless.

While I am not sure what the future holds, I know that it is full of possibilities. I'm so thankful to not be in prison and to now be 7 months sober. I am looking forward to regaining meaningful full-time employment and graduating from recovery court.”

Two years ago, she was homeless, separated from her child, and facing her darkest moment. Today, she’s rebuilding her life, reconnecting with her child, and finding hope, strength, and stability.

Her journey is a powerful reminder that recovery is about more than breaking free from substance use—it’s about restoration, reconnection, and reclaiming life.

The Center for Great Expectations is proud to partner with the Hyacinth AIDS Foundation, New Jersey’s oldest and largest AIDS service organization.

Recently, their mobile unit visited our site with two friendly, professional staff members who made our clients feel comfortable while providing HIV testing and education. Offering gift cards as an incentive, their team helped ensure participation and engagement—directly supporting CGE’s mission to safeguard the health and well-being of the people we serve.
