Here’s everything you need to know about lymphatic drainage… What it is, how it effects your body, and why you should incorporate it into your next treatment ✨✨
The lymphatic system is a vital part of body’s immune system; a network of organs and tissues that circulates bodily fluid, filter unwanted substances, and transport nutrients to other parts of the body. When the lymphatic system has blockages, the lymphatic fluid is stagnant which can cause swelling, infection, tenderness and in worse cases a condition called lymphedema.
Lymphatic drainage massage techniques aid in the transport of lymphatic fluid to the lymph nodes to prevent any illnesses caused by blockage, as well as helping to reduce water retention & swelling, boosting immunity, and promote healing of the underlying tissues of the body (especially after any surgeries or injury)
Lymphatic drainage massage works by using gentle, rhythmic, pressure to stimulate the lymphatic system & encourage the natural flow of lymphatic fluid. By stimulating the vessels and nodes, massage can actually create new pathways to redirect stagnant lymph fluid to areas where it can be effectively processed and cleared.
People that can benefit most from lymphatic drainage massage are individuals that struggle with a decreased immune system, auto-immune related inflammation, visible swelling and/or water retention, post-surgical fluid build-up, and those who seek general healing and recovery ❤️🩹
Lymphatic drainage is NOT recommended for those who have any heart conditions, kidney problems, cellulitis, or history with any types of cancer.
