Yesterday, RWJUH Somerset proudly hosted our Inaugural Allied Health Career Fair!

Employees had the chance to connect with members of RWJBarnabas Health’s Talent Acquisition & Innovation team, the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Program, and our Human Resources department.

Attendees explored opportunities for career ladders, training programs, and tuition reimbursement, while also meeting representatives from partner schools including AIMS Education College of Health Sciences, Raritan Valley Community College, Mercer County Community College, and Union College of Union County.

Information on associate degree and non-degree programs was also available, helping employees take the next step in their professional journeys.

We’re excited to continue supporting our team’s growth and development in allied health careers!

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset was proud to host a successful Pink Party event at the Steeplechase Cancer Center!

Attendees came together—dressed in pink—to learn about the importance of breast health and getting an annual mammogram. Guest speakers Kimberly Cromwell-Piniella, RN, clinical navigator, and Heather Korek, RT, senior mammography technician, shared valuable insights on reducing breast cancer risk, recognizing signs and symptoms, understanding causes, and exploring diagnostic tools and treatment options.

Guests also had the opportunity to schedule a mammogram on-site, taking an important step in prioritizing their health.

As we continue celebrating our 125th anniversary, we are honored to share stories of the deep connections our hospital has built with our community.

Meet Douglas North of Bridgewater. Both he and his wife, Susie, were born at our hospital in the 1955 and ‘61, but his family’s ties go back even further.

Douglas’s mother, Jane North, dedicated more than 40 years as a volunteer at RWJUH Somerset, helping raise funds and working alongside countless others—including the beloved candy stripers. She passed away in 1989, but her legacy lives on in the friendships, generosity, and community spirit she helped foster.

Douglas recently visited our “Journey Through the Years” exhibit and recognized his mother in historic photos on display. He also brought one of her antique plates featuring an illustration of the hospital before its renovation—and generously donated it to the exhibit.

We are so grateful to Douglas and the North family for sharing their story and preserving a piece of our history.

Our employees' well-being includes feeling seen, supported and connected. RWJBarnabas Health recently hosted our 5th Annual Business Resource Group (BRG) Summit at the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center. Our BRGs are employee-led groups that are open to all and play a vital role in fostering a workplace community that is aligned with our core values. This year’s summit featured engaging presentations, opportunities to connect and inspiring remarks from system leaders.

We kick this series off with the incomparable Jack Jegou, assistant director of Food & Nutrition, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital! This proud New Brunswick native entered his senior year of high school unsure about his career path after graduation. 50 years later (and counting!), Jack talks to Mark E. Manigan, RWJBarnabas Health President and CEO, about his career journey, sharing some of his proudest moments and why he’s dedicated his career to our health system and the communities that we serve.
