It’s time we normalize talking about mental health—and part of that means letting go of outdated, unhelpful beliefs that keep people from getting the support they deserve. Let’s bust a few common myths:

1. “Therapy is only for people in crisis.”
Actually, therapy is for anyone who wants to feel better, grow, or gain insight. You don’t have to wait for a breaking point to benefit from support.

2. “Talking about it won’t change anything.”
Talking is changing. Processing emotions, patterns, and past experiences in a safe space can be the first step toward real healing and transformation.

3. “Asking for help is weak.”
Seeking support is a sign of strength. It takes courage to be honest with yourself and take steps toward growth—especially when it’s uncomfortable.

4. “I should be able to handle this on my own.”
You could try, but you don’t have to. We’re wired for connection, and healing is often most effective when we’re not doing it in isolation.

5. “If I ignore it long enough, it’ll go away.”
Emotions don’t just disappear—they show up in other ways: stress, fatigue, irritability, disconnection. Therapy helps you face what’s beneath the surface, gently and with support.

✨ Therapy isn’t just for “something wrong.” It’s for anyone ready to feel more grounded, more connected, and more in tune with themselves.

So many of us were raised to believe that saying “no” is selfish, that protecting our time means we’re being cold, or that expressing our needs might upset someone. But the truth is—boundaries are one of the most powerful ways we show up for ourselves and for the people we care about.

Boundaries are not walls to shut people out. They’re guideposts for healthy connection. They help us communicate clearly, avoid resentment, and create relationships built on mutual respect.

In therapy, we often work with individuals, couples, and families to:

✅ Identify where boundaries are needed
✅ Learn how to express them without guilt
✅ Navigate the discomfort that sometimes comes with change

It’s not always easy—but setting boundaries is an act of self-compassion. And it can transform the way you relate to others.

Curious what healthy boundaries could look like in your life? Therapy can help.

☀️ Feeling overwhelmed by the summer hustle? Here are 5 ways to reconnect:

✔️ Start your morning without your phone
✔️ Take a barefoot walk in the grass
✔️ Practice the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique (see below)
✔️ Journal 3 things you’re grateful for
✔️ Say “no” to one thing you don’t have capacity for

💬 What helps you feel grounded? Share below.

More detail on the 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique:
5 – Name 5 things you can see around you.
4 – Name 4 things you can feel (e.g., your feet on the floor, your shirt against your skin).
3 – Name 3 things you can hear (e.g., a clock ticking, birds outside).
2 – Name 2 things you can smell (or like the smell of, if you can’t smell anything).
1 – Name 1 thing you can taste (or recall a favorite taste).

This tool is often used in therapy to help people regulate stress, anxiety, and overwhelm by focusing on their immediate sensory experience. It’s a quick way to ground yourself when your thoughts feel scattered.
