Providing personalized postural and structural rehabilitative chiropractic care to the Sonoma County, Napa County, and North Bay communities. It was the first profession he ever showed serious in

terest in as a child and it continued to develop throughout his life. Beginning his higher education at California State University, Sacramento, Dr. Hodgson discovered a love for human health, biomechanics, and anatomy. After receiving his degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Therapeutic Exercise and Rehabilitation, the pursuit of his professional degree took him to Life Chiropractic College West in the San Francisco Bay Area where he received his doctorate. Since then he has cared for patients of all ages and conditions at PostureWorks, a leading spinal and structural rehabilitation office before returning to Sonoma to serve his hometown community. Now, returning to the valley to join Adams Chiropractic, Dr. Hodgson continues to specialize in the evidence-based technique, Chiropractic BioPhysics. Most people use their smartphone in the wrong position.

Some even hold their phone against their stomach and curve their entire spine to look down when using it!

The head usually weighs 9-13 lbs.
By tilting the head forward the body has to work hard to hold the head up. This includes the spine, lower part of the neck, and muscles of the back.

For every 15 degrees of forward tilt, the effective weight of the head increase by almost 11 lbs. This increases the effort we must use to hold our head up.

When using a smartphone with the head tiled fully forward, more or less 60 degrees, the weight of the head exerts a force of about 55 lbs between the shoulders.

What do you think happens to your spine with that maintained, repetitive posture?

Interesting facts: 97% of Americans have at least one smartphone. Every year this number is increasing. The average daily use is 4 hours and 30 minutes🫣

Most people only think about their neck when it hurts.
But the cervical spine plays a much bigger role.

It supports your head, protects the top part of your spinal cord, and influences how your body handles stress, breathing, and overall function.

When alignment in this area is altered, the effects can go beyond simple discomfort and lead to bigger health issues.

That’s why in corrective care, we focus on restoring proper structure, not just relieving symptoms!

Your body sends signals all the time.

Tension.
Discomfort.
Fatigue.

But most people ignore them… until they get louder.

The question is: are you listening early, or waiting until it hurts?

Being active doesn’t automatically mean your body is functioning at its best.

Many athletes train hard, push limits, and stay consistent but still deal with tightness, recurring pain, slower recovery, and plateauing performance.

Why?
Because performance isn’t just about strength or conditioning.
It’s also about how your body is aligned, how its functioning, and how it handles stress.

Chiropractic care -when focused on correction, not just relief -can support how your body moves, recovers, and performs over time.

Posture plays a direct role in how your nervous system functions.

Your body doesn’t have to feel stressed to be in a stress state.
Here are 4 signs your body may be under constant stress:
• Forward head posture
• Rounded shoulders
• Shallow breathing
• Constant muscle tension

At Peak Performance & Posture, we measure and address these patterns not just treat symptoms.

You stay active, train consistently, and do ā€œall the right thingsā€ā€¦ so why does recovery feel harder than it used to?😬

When your spinal posture is off, your body responds to stress differently. This means pain can keep coming back despite proper stretching, mobility work, recovery, and exercise.

If you want to keep training, skiing, biking, lifting, or simply moving well long-term, it starts with your spine!🩻

Patient Initials: K.H. 29 y/o🩻
(Name withheld for privacy)

When K.H. first came to our office, she was experiencing a severe, multi-week panic episode.
āš ļøBreathing felt difficult.
āš ļøFocus was limited.
āš ļøHer work performance was beginning to suffer.

Because she was traveling from San Diego, we implemented a short-term, intensive corrective care approach, something we reserve for very specific situations.

Over a two-week period, K.H. was seen 26 times
(for most patients, this number of visits is typically spread over two months or more).

By the end of those two weeks:
āž”ļøBreathing felt easier
āž”ļøHer nervous system felt calmer
āž”ļøFocus and work performance noticeably improved

While this level of care is not typical, this case highlights what’s possible when spinal alignment and nervous system function are addressed in a precise, individualized way.

X-rays shown belong to the patient discussed.

Friendly reminder from your doctor šŸ‘‹šŸ¼

Real results don’t happen in 2 days.

If you’re active: skiing, biking, training, playing pickleball, working long hours... your spine and posture need time, consistency, and personalized care to function optimally!

Corrective chiropractic care isn’t about quick fixes.
It’s about retraining your body so it can move, perform, and recover better.

Be patient with your body.
It’s doing its best for you every day šŸ¤

Save this if you needed the reminder and share it with someone who can benefit as well.
