These are strange, in-between times for all of us. There’s rising hope: will we be able to sustain it? There’s potential for decency and community: how do we find our way through the morass of blame, self-righteousness, and anger that’s taken over public discourse? There’s the beauty that surrounds us, always: do we take it in, nurture ourselves, let our hearts brighten with the harmony inherent in nature? There’s the balance that comes at fall equinox—equal night and day, dark and light, as we shift towards the ending of summer, the dying back of our gardens, and the reddening colors of fall leaves.

What balance will you cultivate in your life? The ease of being with the satisfaction of doing? Inner and outer work? Living from both your mind and heart? Whatever balance calls to you, the energy of the turning of the sun will aid you!

Come celebrate the Fall equinox on Sonoma Mountain! SMP will lead a guided hike at Tolay regional Park 9/21, 9:30-12:30!! Two of our BOD members are leading.

Brief description: Three Bridges Vista Point via the Causeway and East Ridge Trail, we’ll have lovely views toward the Petaluma River. We will return via Pond and Lakeville Road trails. We will cross cattle gates and likely pass grazing livestock, with a total distance of 4.6 miles.

Going to the sun Road: bighorn sheep grazing. Mountain goat traversing a ridge, walking towards the trail, cruising 10 feet away from hikers. Then a second goat right next to parking lot, posing in the wildflowers!
