We're celebrating a $1 million gift and a powerful partnership with Valley Strong Credit Union. This generous donation will help expand our cardiac catheterization lab (cath lab) at Adventist Health Hanford. Cath labs are facilities where diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to the heart and blood vessels are performed using catheters or tubes. By expanding from one cath lab to five, our team will be able to serve 2,000+ patients each year and provide life-saving care close to home.

This gift will elevate our cath lab waiting area and overall experience for patients and their families.

Thank you, Valley Strong Credit Union, for sharing our commitment to building a healthier and stronger future for the communities we serve.

Just three days before Robert Shupe and Marino Callahan were to wed, Robert suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital. With family flying in from across the world, postponing wasn’t an option — so the Adventist Health Bakersfield team made their wedding day come true.

In just 24 hours, the team transformed the hospital chapel and lobby into a beautiful wedding and reception space, complete with flowers, music, cake, and photos! Surrounded by 30 loved ones, Robert and Marino said, “I do,” in a celebration full of love, joy, and gratitude.

“This world can really beat you down,” Robert shared. “But then something like this happens, and it reminds you how much good there is in the world.”

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible care team and the local vendors who helped make this a memorable day. Congratulations to the happy couple — your story of love and perseverance has inspired us all!

Not even a year after the two met in September 2024, they were set to get married in July. But instead of walking down the aisle hand in hand after kissing his bride, Robert held Marino’s han…
