11 years ago today… a dream come true💕

June 19, 2014 at 10:33 in the morning, little Elora “Ellie” came into the world—the very first baby born at what was then the Sierra Natural Birthing Home. She arrived in the loving arms of her parents, Jesse and Megan, who had driven two hours from El Portal to be here. They chose us, and they chose Ellie Jasmer, CNM, to walk with them through that sacred experience.

We were still under construction—literally. We were building the birthing rooms, working day and night to meet the state’s licensing requirements so that one day soon, we could become a fully licensed birth center and open our doors to all families, including those on Medi-Cal. Ellie’s birth happened right in the middle of that dream becoming real.

And what a birth it was. Peaceful, powerful, natural.
A beginning.

Ellie wasn’t just the first baby born here—she was the first heartbeat of Sierra Natural Birth Center. She and her family will always be woven into the soul of this place.

Today, she turns 11.
And today, this center turns 11 too.

🎉 Celebrating Certified Nurse Midwife, Mary Beth Sponsler CNM! 🎓

On December 13, 2024, Mary Beth Sponsler graduated from her Nurse Midwifery Master’s program, “catching” her first baby on January 2, 2025 and today passing her Nurse Midwifery board exam! We couldn’t be prouder of her hard work and dedication.

The Sierra Natural Birth Center team comes together to celebrate her wonderful achievements.

We are so deeply grateful for this amazing team, who pour their hearts into giving compassionate and holistic care, listening to our families, and supporting them in having the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience of their dreams. We are honored to nurture the beauty of physiological and natural childbirth in a safe and peaceful environment, embracing every stage of the journey with care and compassion.

We’re also thrilled for what’s ahead—soon, we’ll welcome two more incredible women to our team, and we can’t wait to share the news with you all. Exciting things are on the horizon!

✨ Blessings Abound In The New Year ✨

We're overflowing with joy as we celebrate a series of ✨"firsts"✨ at Sierra Natural Birth Center coming into the New Year! We welcomed sweet Lucy Dean as the first ✨ baby of 2025, making Eden & Eric Dean the first ✨ family in Tuolumne County to celebrate a new arrival this year and their third birth at the Sierra Natural Birth Center. This special occasion also marked the first ✨ birth for Mary Beth Sponsler after graduating from her Nurse Midwifery Masters Program, and a warm welcome to our Birth Assistant, Elizabeth V. Vass attending her first ✨ birth since joining our team💫💖✨

We're honored to have supported this family and grateful for the support of the Tuolumne County Breastfeeding Coalition for the donation of the generous gift basket for the very first baby “born 2025” in Tuolumne County. Lucy was born January 2nd 2025 💕 Being a daytime birth we are very grateful to Michelle for keeping the clinic running smoothly while Ellie was running back and forth 💫💖💞
