About Us...

Our team consists of Breastfeeding Peer Counselors and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) who provide breastfeeding support to enrolled Tuolumne County WIC recipients.

What are Breastfeeding Peer Counselors?

We are mothers helping mothers! A Breastfeeding Peer Counselor is a mother on WIC who has breastfed for at least a year and is trained to help other mothers breastfeed for as long as they are able in their situation. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breast-feeding exclusively for a baby’s first six months of life, gradually adding solid foods, and continuing to breast-feed for at least a year.
