Not all shots are created equal, and not all people who do shots are created equal either.

At The Osteopathic Way and Santa Cruz Orthobiologics we generally don’t inject steroids. Instead we try to use regenerative shots like PRP and stem cell rich bone marrow whenever possible to help your body feel better.

Our doctors trained in injection therapy in residency and use ultrasound to go to exact right areas you need in order to heal. The area that is going to be injected is numbed using local anesthetic and we also have nitrous gas available in the office to breathe and make it hurt even less.

The goal is to get the injection within 1 millimeter of the issues causing you problems, not just to stick it in the joint and hope for the best. We try to have you be as comfortable as possible and use cutting edge regenerative injections.

As Osteopathic Physicians, we use our hands. We are experts at treating things other body workers can miss - fascia, organs, scar tissue. Most of our patients feel better with Osteopathic Treatment.

Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP is becoming much more popular for orthopedic type injuries, and it should be. The problem is, most of the clinics doing PRP aren’t Regenerative Medicine specialists. And often times the PRP they are doing needs to be repeated several times to have the effect you as the patient are looking for.

Our PRP is customized specifically to you and your injuries. Dr. Fischer is one of the few doctors in the country board certified in Regenerative Medicine, and our PRP is over 90 percent effective the first time. We have the data to prove it.

In the modern day it is unusual to find a a medical practice that is privately owned. The Osteopathic Way isn’t just a private practice, it’s owned by a married couple with a family. Dr. Knight was born and raised in Aptos, and Dr. Fischer and Dr. Knight’s kids go to school in Aptos as well.

Private practice is different than the large group corporate medicine you are likely used to. The doctors spend significant time with you, and can help you navigate the choices you are making about your health.
