We’ve been counting down to Halloween in the Day Program with a ton of themed activities, crafts, and special dress days.

Our participants love a theme week and joined in on all the fun. 🎃👻

We started last week with:
- Wear a ghost (or white) shirt and go on a ghost scavenger hunt
- Halloween pajama day and BINGO!

This week, we counted down with even more fun:
- Monster masks and monster (or green) shirts and a lantern craft
- Nightmare before Christmas with skeleton shirts and a variety of Halloween games
- Wednesday was Addams Family day! We dressed up in black like Wednesday Adams and experimented with a potion!
- For pumpkin day, we wore pumpkin (or orange) shirts and got busy with another scavenger hunt

And today was the big day with a Halloween Costume contest! We wish all of our friends a fun and safe Halloween!

The creativity was on full display at our annual staff pumpkin decorating contest!

We have some serious artistic talent among our staff, and we love highlighting it during this contest every year.

The Day Program took first prize with their “UP” theme. The Intensive Behavioral Health Services team came in second with “Butterball,” and the Accounting department got third place with “Stay Puft.” Jean Clipsham won the prize for guessing how many pieces of candy are in our little candy jar.

Show us your decorated pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns in the comments!

What happens when adults with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities require more care than their family can provide at home?

A residential program like we have been providing for over 50 years is often the desired option for individuals and their families. In one of our residential group homes:
- Highly qualified and compassionate Direct Support Professionals deliver around the clock care.
- Individuals enjoy a great deal of autonomy and support to explore their interests and engage with the community.
- Family members visit residents at home and also pick them up for quality time activities.

Residential programs for adults with special needs help families achieve the best of both worlds by providing continuous care while encouraging family connections.

The McDowells are an Indian Creek family who have been enjoying a rhythm of family life through residential care for many years. Check out this blog post to learn more about what it’s like to be a family supported by our residential program

Our Story

For over 40 years, Indian Creek Foundation has served Bucks and Montgomery area children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Throughout the years, the Foundation has become a premier non-profit organization impacting lives in more ways than you may realize.

Although it wasn't incorporated until 1975, the Foundation's roots trace back to 1958, when a boy with a developmental disability was born to a local family. It was important to them that their son would have a place to live and work when they were no longer able to care for him; they turned to the community for help with their quest. At about the same time, the Franconia Mennonite Conference established a committee as part of their mission entitled "Indian Creek Haven". The purpose of this mission was to provide outreach services to people living in the community with a developmental disability. It was this combination of one family's search for answers and the Franconia Mennonite Conference's mission that began the development of the organization that today touches more than 1200 lives in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

The connection to Mennonite churches in the area helped Indian Creek Foundation carve out a set of values that serve as guiding principles for the work being performed. Values such as compassion, mutual respect and meaningful relationships are the building blocks of the Foundation's Philosophy of Care. This philosophy, which is instilled in each employee, is the essence of what happens at the Foundation each day.

Today, the Foundation continues to be guided by the core values that were developed 40 years ago. Though service delivery methods have changed over time one thing remains true, the Foundation is dedicated to the people it provides services for. With an ever-growing staff, a committed Board of Directors and the support of the community, the Foundation is poised to impact even more lives. From residential services to recreational activities to employment services and services within the family home, Indian Creek Foundation remains steadfast in its mission and focused on its future goals.
