March 21st is and we bet you can guess why! The clinical name for Down Syndrome is Trisomy 21, which means there is a 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome. What better day to bring awareness than to celebrate on the 21st day of the 3rd month!

World Down Syndrome Day is a global opportunity to raise awareness about promoting the well-being and inclusivity of individuals with Down Syndrome. The theme for 2026 is “Together Against Loneliness.”

Loneliness can disproportionately affect people with Down Syndrome and their families. Because of their unique circumstances, they often feel like they are missing out on community, friendships, and relationships with people who understand.

We are completely invested in preventing and ending loneliness for the individuals we serve and their families. All of our programs are intentionally designed to promote community, friendship, and various types of support. Do you know what’s extra special about making sure our friends never feel lonely? They are right there to make sure we never feel lonely, either! 💞

We are so thankful for our Indian Creek Foundation Board of Directors. This diverse group of men and women from our community work hard to help us govern our resources and grow our mission. We believe you should get to know our Board as well! Keep an eye out for our series of blogs that will highlight individual Board members.

First, we’d like to introduce our current Board Chair, Brad Bishop. Brad will be stepping down at the end of our fiscal year in July, and we don’t want to let him go without having him share what serving Indian Creek has meant to him. Read more about Brad and his work with Indian Creek here: https://indcreek.org/board-brad-bishop/

✨ Mission Accomplishments! ✨

A core objective of our Mission to Serve Every ONE is to be the employer of choice for professionals in our field. We value and respect each and every employee for their contributions to our organization.

Our recently retired CEO, Dean Stoesz, was passionate about growing our leadership from within. He championed the idea that attracting and retaining high quality employees is the foundation of our reputation as an organization.

Building a solid workforce begins with training, and that is why we chose to honor Dean’s legacy by dedicating the Dean Stoesz Training Room. Our newest colleagues are introduced to Indian Creek through activities here, and all of our employees are invited to continued learning and professional development opportunities in this space.

March is Social Work Awareness Month!

Social workers are a vital resource to our Indian Creek Foundation community. They are skilled professionals who help to bridge the gap between individual needs and the greater community.

Social workers assist individuals and their families in our Outpatient, Behavioral Health, and Residential programs by providing therapy, ensuring compliance with regulations, promoting safety, and reviewing available resources.

If someone in your family is pursuing a career in Social Work, consider an internship at Indian Creek Foundation! Contact us at 267-203-1500 ext. 323, or visit our Careers page at www.indcreek.org to learn about our internships.

Our Story

For over 40 years, Indian Creek Foundation has served Bucks and Montgomery area children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Throughout the years, the Foundation has become a premier non-profit organization impacting lives in more ways than you may realize.

Although it wasn't incorporated until 1975, the Foundation's roots trace back to 1958, when a boy with a developmental disability was born to a local family. It was important to them that their son would have a place to live and work when they were no longer able to care for him; they turned to the community for help with their quest. At about the same time, the Franconia Mennonite Conference established a committee as part of their mission entitled "Indian Creek Haven". The purpose of this mission was to provide outreach services to people living in the community with a developmental disability. It was this combination of one family's search for answers and the Franconia Mennonite Conference's mission that began the development of the organization that today touches more than 1200 lives in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

The connection to Mennonite churches in the area helped Indian Creek Foundation carve out a set of values that serve as guiding principles for the work being performed. Values such as compassion, mutual respect and meaningful relationships are the building blocks of the Foundation's Philosophy of Care. This philosophy, which is instilled in each employee, is the essence of what happens at the Foundation each day.

Today, the Foundation continues to be guided by the core values that were developed 40 years ago. Though service delivery methods have changed over time one thing remains true, the Foundation is dedicated to the people it provides services for. With an ever-growing staff, a committed Board of Directors and the support of the community, the Foundation is poised to impact even more lives. From residential services to recreational activities to employment services and services within the family home, Indian Creek Foundation remains steadfast in its mission and focused on its future goals.
