We’re talking about menopause this week ladies!
Understanding menopausal weight gain; what causes it?

Hormonal Fluctuations: The decline in estrogen levels plays a pivotal role in redistributing body fat, leading to accumulation in the abdominal area.

Metabolic Changes: Menopause brings a decline in metabolic rate, causing the body to burn fewer calories at rest and contributing to weight gain, particularly around the abdomen.

Insulin Resistance: During menopause, there's an increased risk of developing insulin resistance, which can lead to increased fat storage, especially in the abdominal region.

Genetic Factors: Some women may be genetically predisposed to store fat in the abdomen, making them more susceptible to developing excess abdominal fat during menopause.

Impact on Bone Health: Changes in body composition during menopause, including increased abdominal fat, have been associated with lower bone mineral density, potentially increasing the risk of osteoporosis.

Lifestyle Factors: Beyond hormonal changes, reduced physical activity, changes in dietary habits, and increased stress levels can exacerbate menopausal weight gain, particularly in the abdominal area.

Ongoing pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, unusual cramping, or pain during s*x can be signs that your IUD may not be sitting correctly. If something feels off or different from what you are used to, your body may be asking for a check in.

Perimenopause is the phase leading up to menopause, and it often starts in the late 30s to early 40s - sometimes even earlier.
Because many women are still having periods, symptoms like sleep changes, mood shifts, or weight fluctuations are often written off as stress or lifestyle. In reality, hormonal changes may be playing a role.
If you’ve noticed patterns that feel different from your norm, it can be helpful to talk through what you’re experiencing and explore supportive options.
You don’t have to navigate these changes without guidance!

Infertility can feel overwhelming, confusing, and, at times, hopeless. But you are not without hope! And, we know many women wonder when it’s time to seek help.

General guidelines recommend speaking with a doctor if:
⏳ You’ve been trying for 12 months without success and are under age 35
⏳ You’ve been trying for 6 months and are 35 or older
⚠️ You have very irregular or absent periods
⚠️ You have known conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, or prior pelvic infections
⚠️ You’ve experienced recurrent pregnancy loss

Infertility can have many possible causes, including ovulation issues, hormone imbalances, fallopian tube problems, uterine conditions, or male factor infertility. Sometimes more than one factor is involved.

Understanding what may be happening is the first step toward finding answers. Many couples benefit from early evaluation and guidance.

If you have questions about your fertility or feel like something may not be right, you don’t have to navigate it alone. We’re here to listen and help guide you through the next steps💗

Many women assume mood swings, anxiety, or low energy are “just stress.”
But hormones often play a role too.

Throughout a woman’s life, natural hormone shifts can affect how you feel mentally and physically. Changes around your menstrual cycle, after pregnancy, or as you approach your late 30s and 40s can influence mood, sleep, and energy levels.

Some signs hormones may be contributing include:
🌀 Mood swings that seem tied to your cycle
😟 Increased anxiety or irritability before your period
💤 Unusual fatigue or low motivation
🌙 Poor sleep or feeling wired but tired
🧠 Brain fog or trouble concentrating

While stress absolutely affects hormones, sometimes the underlying hormone shifts deserve attention too.

A few simple things that can help support hormone balance:
🛌 Prioritize consistent sleep
🍳 Eat regular, balanced meals with protein and healthy fats
🚶‍♀️ Manage stress with movement, walks, or quiet time
📅 Track your cycle to notice patterns in mood and energy
👩‍⚕️ Talk with a healthcare provider if symptoms feel persistent or disruptive

At For Her Health, we help women understand what may be going on in their bodies and guide them toward the next steps that make sense for them.

If something feels “off,” it’s worth asking questions. You don’t have to just push through it 💗
