Our mission is simple: strengthen lives, restore stability, and help people get back on track. Life Treatment Centers (LTC) is a nonprofit in North Central Indiana that has been offering substance use disorder treatment since 1972. We provide outpatient programs, supportive housing, and case management based on the 12-step model. LTC serves diverse groups, including veterans, gamblers. We support medication-assisted treatment. Good food, great people, and an even greater purpose!
A shared lunch with community partners led to a powerful reminder that collaboration turns shared purpose into greater impact. Special thanks to Molly Kelly from Upper Room for inviting Life Treatment Centers and creating a space for connection. And, a heartfelt thank you to LTC employee, Dawn Dalgarn, your passion started this connection in the first place! It truly takes a team, and we’re is lucky to have a great one!!

Shout out to Dawn and Reinie! They packed and distributed 50 care bags to individuals experiencing homelessness in our downtown area. Each bag included essential items like toiletries, hand warmers, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, and warming blankets! These small essentials make a meaningful impact!

This outreach was made possible through funds raised during the Recovery Walk in October! Thank you to all who continue to support our efforts and help turn generosity into action!

Shout out to Lisa! Let's make this go viral! 🍕 💚 Also, shout out to the South Bend Police Department for what they did as well!! What a great moment, and we're happy to share it!

Well, Facebook... we did it! She saw our post!

Remember that story we shared last week about the Pizza Hut worker who dropped off pizzas to SBPD after not being able to find any members of the unhoused community to share them with? And then Sergeants Dawson and Calvert refused the donation and instead went out and helped complete the delivery for her?

Well... that worker... Lisa... came back to SBPD last night! She said she saw our post and wanted to treat our officers with their own pizzas this time.

Lisa is a manager at the Pizza Hut on Miami Street and says she was touched by all the people who came together to help finish her good deed.

Lisa... you are awesome! Thank you!

We are incredibly grateful to welcome Chef Bela Szalay back to Life Treatment Centers after nearly a decade away, during which he continued serving our community in other meaningful ways. This Christmas, Chef Bela returned in the most special way by preparing a beautiful holiday dinner for the persons we serve at LTC.

The menu was nothing short of amazing:
• Oven-roasted turkey
• Honey-glazed ham
• Polish sausage
• Barbecue ribs
• Yukon Gold mashed potatoes
• Southern-style green beans
• Sausage, sage cornbread dressing
• Homemade roasted gravy
• Pumpkin pie with whipped cream
• Fresh fruit parfaits

To make the evening even more special, Chef Bela also secured donated tablecloths, linens, and real silverware, transforming the space into a true holiday dining experience filled with dignity, warmth, and care.

Thank you, Chef Bela, for your heart, generosity, and for reminding us what community and compassion look like in action.

December Employee Spotlight: Autumn Lane ⭐️
We’re proud to recognize Autumn, one of our dedicated Primary Treatment Coordinators, for her passion and unwavering commitment to helping others. Autumn’s ability to meet clients where they are and walk alongside them in recovery reflects her deep compassion and professionalism. Her nonjudgmental approach fosters a safe, supportive environment for healing, making her an invaluable part of the LTC team!

Autumn has been with LTC for over two years, consistently bringing dedication and expertise to her role. Outside of work, Autumn is a proud girl mom of three and actively volunteers with her daughters’ school events. She loves Halloween, seafood (especially crab), and shares her home with her bald cat, Beerus. Adventurous at heart, she has swum with dolphins, held a crocodile, and even been kissed by a wolf! A driven professional, Autumn graduated with high distinction with her bachelor’s in social work, completed her master’s with a 3.9 GPA, and was honored with the Spirit of IUSSW Award in 2023. She is currently preparing to take her LCSW exam in December 2025!

Thank you, Autumn, for your dedication, compassion, and the heart you bring to Life Treatment Centers every day!

POST UPDATE: Autumn has officially passed LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Work) Exam!!!

Life Treatment Centers now has a Community Naloxone (Narcan) Box available at the corner of our building at Broadway & Michigan. Naloxone saves lives!! It can reverse an opioid overdose and give someone time until help arrives.

Take one if you need it. Carry one in case someone else does. Also, always call 911 after use.

We want to give a huge thank you to Lindsey from St. Joseph County Department of Health for helping make this life-saving resource available to our community.

Please share so others know it’s here!! Happy Holidays!

Sheila and Amy Elizabeth had the opportunity to participate in a workshop hosted by the University of Notre Dame, thanks to Gwen in Public Affairs at ND. The session brought together partners across the region to explore innovative approaches to opioid-sensing research and community health, and it proved to be time well invested!!

It was at this workshop that we met Dr. Krista, who has helped spark a new Nurse Practitioner partnership for us at LTC! Read more about ND-SCAN and all the work this group is doing with the link in the comments. 🥰

Welcome to Life Treatment Centers

Taking the first step is always the hardest. We make sure that first step is not alone.

Do not let your fire go out in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours
