The former Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, ,IN. Opened in 1894 as Epworth Hospital and Training Opened in 1894 as Epworth Hospital and Training School.
Memorial Hospital of South Bend traces its roots back to 1894, when the Women's Home Missionary Societies of the Methodist Churches of South Bend founded Epworth Hospital and Training School. By 1901, the hospital had grown from three patient beds in a converted house to a 50-bed "modern" hospital - complete with a maternity room and an operating room in the first building in South Bend designed specifically as a hospital. The name officially changed in 1945 to Memorial Hospital of South Bend. It changed to Memorial hospital of South Bend School of Nursing in 1945. It closed its doors in 1988.Through a partnership with IUSB, Memorial Hospital has gradually phased nursing education out of its program, except for placements of students in its hospital and clinical units.

Hi All. The 2025 Alumni Luncheon is scheduled for June 14th. It will remain at the St. Hedwig Memorial Center in South Bend, Indiana. Official invite with the times will come later. Hope to see a big turnout.

Julie Bowers and I are planning a small memorial service for Linda Barouska on July 14th at 10:00 AM. It will take place in the Memorial Hospital Chapel. Please pass this on to other classmates and her coworkers.

It’s with great sadness to let the class of 1970 know that Linda Barouska passed away this evening. Please keep her family in your prayers. We had some great adventures this past 50 +
years. I will miss her so much.
