Camp Millhouse

Camp Millhouse Camp Millhouse is a residential summer camp for children & adults with special needs. Find more information at campmillhouse.org

We offer six one-week sessions in the summer & off-season programs called the Millhouse Mingles. Camp Millhouse was founded in 1937 and held at various locations until 1940 when the late Mr. & Mrs. Charles Millhouse donated eleven acres of wooded property in Greene Township of St. Joseph County, ten miles southwest of downtown South Bend, Indiana. The camp is currently operated by Camp Millhouse I

nc., a not-for-profit organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors. Camp Millhouse is an accredited camp by the American Camp Association. Camp Millhouse has grown to it’s present size of 45 acres through the generosity and nurturing support of the Board of Directors and the surrounding community. Camp Millhouse has survived solely on the support of the community, through fundraisers, other monetary donations and camper fees. We are not a United Way agency and do not receive government monies. We have been able to provide amazing experiences for our campers each and every summer thanks to the generous support of our donors.

We are so proud of Jeanie!! The sky’s the limit friend!

We are thrilled to share the news that Jeanine Rowe, an ambassador from our Leaders for Inclusion program (LFI), was appointed by the Governor to the Michigan Barrier Access Board! Jeanine has a passion for physical access, and has focused her advocacy on changing building codes. As a certified ADA Coordinator, she brings a wealth of knowledge and lived experience to her role. Congratulations!

Millhouse Madness Day 5!

Day 4 recap: Order of the Forks wins! If you have not witnessed this tradition, the whole lodge sings this song when it is someone’s birthday at camp to choose the “pokers”. Then, the birthday person dons the iconic “fork hat” and everyone sings Happy Birthday while they are (ever so gently) poked with forks! It’s a great way to honor our camper and staff birthdays!

Up next: We move onto round 2 of Millhouse Madness with two fan favorites. Swimming VS riding the train! Comment your vote below.

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU for some gifts purchased off our Amazon wishlist! Thank you to Patty for four rolling carts that will be used in cabins for campers with medical equipment! Next, thank you to Sharon for another one of the rolling carts, a pool pole, brush head, and pole hanger set. These will be amazing this summer! Finally, thank you to an anonymous donor who sent emergency lanterns and another cart!

We are SO grateful for all the support. We could not do what we do without the generosity of our community. Inspired by the kindness? Check out our wishlist for more items we are in need of around camp.
