We’re not surprised that Brandon Kastner, President of Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame, has just been named to the 2026 Michiana Forty Under 40 class by the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce, though some of us are still a little surprised he qualifies as “under 40.”

Brandon leads with respect for the traditions and values of Holy Cross Village while helping guide its future, including plans for the independent living expansion set to break ground in 2027.

Today, our residents gathered in the chapel for the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion. It was a beautiful and prayerful service, presided over by Fr. David and Fr. Dan, with our president, Brandon Kastner, joining residents in reflection and prayer.

We are grateful to share moments like this together as a community of faith on such a sacred day.

We are hiring at Holy Cross Village, and stories like Kendall’s are exactly why people choose to grow their careers here.

Two years ago, Kendall Evans joined our team as a CNA. When a Qualified Medication Aide position became available, we recognized her passion for serving residents and supported her promotion into the role. As part of that step forward, Holy Cross Village helped cover the training required, something Kendall shared made it possible for her to take this next step in her career.

Pictured here with Kendall is Jo Barger, who has called Holy Cross Village home for 18 years. At 94 years old, Jo continues to live independently and even still drives. The relationships between residents and staff are what make this community so special.

Kendall is currently pursuing nursing school and hopes to continue serving right here at Holy Cross Village as a nurse.

The Holy Cross Village Family mourns the loss of Fr Genaro Aguilar CSC, known affectionately by residents and staff as "Fr. G.", who died on the morning of March 17. Fr G faithfully served our community at Holy Cross Village as a Chaplain from 2021-2024.

In Fr G's time at the village, he presided at Mass, visited our residents in Dujarie House, anointed the sick and was a pastoral presence for all of us. Staff and residents remember his prayerful spirit, his pastoral presence and his dancing skills that brought smiles to anyone who was closeby.

We will miss you Fr G. May he rest in peace.

For this month's Holy Cross Village series, Megan Halteman Zwart, Provost and Vice President at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN, shared her experiences teaching a class entitled Dialogue and Civil Discourse, directing The Dialogue Project at Saint Mary's, and scaling this dialogue work on campus during her time as Provost.

This week, we’re proud to celebrate Long Term Care Administrator Week by recognizing our Vice President of Health Services, Martin Lebbin!

Marty has been with us for the past nine months, quickly becoming a valued part of our campus community. While his time here may be recent, he brings with him years of experience in health services and a steady, thoughtful approach to leadership.

What stands out most about Marty is his compassion. He cares deeply about our residents and is committed to ensuring they receive the highest level of care, dignity, and respect each day. His presence has made a meaningful impact on both our team and the individuals we serve.

We’re grateful for the experience, leadership, and heart Marty brings to our community.

It is wonderful to see the work of Father Tim O’Connor being highlighted.

Fr. Tim served as chaplain at Holy Cross Village for many years before moving to the University of Notre Dame to serve as a faculty and staff chaplain about two years ago. Father Tim is also a Holy Cross priest.

We’re glad to share this and recognize the good work he continues to do. His daily presence is missed here by staff and residents.

This morning we hosted a St. Patrick’s Day Community Breakfast at Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame. Creating opportunities to welcome our community onto campus is incredibly important to us, giving people the chance to connect with our residents, experience our environment, and learn more about our expansion.

Despite the snow and cold temperatures, more than 40 people joined us, and we are truly grateful for their time and support.
